Personally, I think that it is tacky for them to charge people to have characters in their wedding pictures. Think about the amount of advertising that Disney receives when people show their wedding pictures to their family and friends - plus, these are the pictures that we hold dear for the rest of our lives - people see them in our homes for years to come.

Not to mention the fact that the people who want to have characters in their wedding day photos are the biggest Disney fans anywhere - talk about taking advantage of your biggest supporters.

If anything, they should be offering up a "character of choice" as part of a wedding package.

That is such a great point! Unfortunately, I don't ever see it happening It's a shame that big businesses never see things from the consumer's standpoint. I think they would be much more successful that way. Seriously, they are paying three castmembers (2 characters and a handler) minimum wage to come for 30 minutes which is a payout of about what, $20? Then they turn around and charge us $1200!?!?!?!?!? Geez!!!

I think that we'll be dropping Mickey & Minne now even if we're invoiced at $1070. For DF, he'd rather put the money towards something else (or a few other things as the case may be) like a ski trip, a trip to NY for the weekend etc. For me, I'm bitter about the increase because it's just one more increase (the increase for the WP that I faced this summer was enough for me), because we won't have children at the ceremony, and because there isn't even a guarantee of having them for 30 mins.

Plus I'm afraid that I will feel flustered with the comings and goings, rush through the toast to get the alcohol away during the cake cutting. I think I'd rather just take the time to breathe and soak it all in.

Who knows...maybe in 10 years we'll have a VR and hopefully we'll have children of our own. Now that would be a perfect excuse to have the characters regardless of cost.

I'll make sure to let everyone know what I was invoiced at...when I finally get it ....

I have attempted to budget accordingly, but I am changing to an outside location to save some money. SBP is really beautiful and will accomodate us quite well.

WOW!!! I can't believe the increase in prices!! Makes me grateful we are getting married in one week and our prices are locked in... I am sorry for all you future brides who have to deal with these increases. I don't know that we would have been able to have a Disney wedding with those kinds of increases...

It can't be...our intimate wedding package at the WP is priced at $3600 and that includes all the elements and the tax! So the actual cost of the location must be less. And we're paying 2007 prices.... Don't worry too much and if you're really concerned just call and ask your WC if there is a price change re: the location. I think there must be a misunderstanding.

Are the price increases different if you are having a custom versus a VR or intimate?

Also, I went onto the disney website last night. I noticed that for custom weddings, prices are supposedly guaranteed at the six month point. However, for intimates, it only said that prices are subject to change and mentioned nothing about prices being locked in. I don't know if the guarantee is in the actual contract for a custom wedding. It seems like it would be false advertising if they did not honor the guarantee with the customs though.

I just dug out my contract and it states that the rental fee for a ceremony held at a location other then Disney's Wedding Pavilion is $1200.00 plus applicable taxes... That can't be changed now, can it?? The contract was signed in September.

Oh my......

I was told that as long as we turned in our deposit, we would be guaranteed the prices as of that day. Therefore the MK photo shoot would be $800.00 instead of the increased $850.00. And so on......

I must also state, that we are having an intimate, and I know things are much different with custom...

I hope this is true or else we may be reconsidering a lot of things......

Well I have my signature and my wedding planner's signature and the managers signature with certain prices, so they better be true to what was already agreed upon......

I feel like this is terrible on Disney's behalf, if you tell people one price at the time of booking, they should be true to their word, and only apply the new prices to people who have not booked yet.

When you sign your contract (custom) they tell you that the prices are subject to change up until the 6 month mark. After that point, they are locked in and you keep what it was at the 6 month point even if it goes up. Unfortunately, we timed it poorly so that our 6 month mark is right at the start of a new year (January 12, 2007.) Therefore, if these changes are accurate, it looks like we'll be subject to them Had we realized the prices go up at the beginning of each year (and by THIS MUCH) maybe we could have adjusted our date a little

I am sooooooooooo sorry. I didn't mean to stir up you brides. Honestly, I just wanted to be open about the pricing I was given for our Intimate Vow Renewal for November 19, 2007. I certainly encourage you brides to check with your planners. Amy, the person who contacted me from DFTW, is the one who gave me those quotes. I wrote it all down so I would not forget and could budget accordingly.

Of course, she also told me she would not book anything until March 19th. She would not even agree to pencil me in for Nov. 19th.

The folks at Disney Weddings don't come right out with all this information - it feels a little seedy sometimes when your dealing with them. I felt like I was always trying to piece things together. Now exactly how a bushing bride wants to feel about her wedding planners...miles away. The photo package that we wanted (and signed on for) was replaced (and completely changed) - not to mention $400 more. We were so mad. I emailed & called until they promised to give me what I had signed for. They eventually did - but not without fighting them on it. The Wedding Coordinator I had just tried to slide it by us by sending us an email with their "new packages" - without mentioning that it would/should effect us at. When I got it - I was like "whats this, what does this have to do with us?" - "am I supposed to read their mind?". I was always on the phone trying to get clarification. It was frustrating.

There is way to much "grey" area when your dealing with some of these people. Hubby and I were VERY close several time to canceling the entire Disney wedding idea.

The $3900 is the increased price for the Intimate Wedding Package at the Pavilion, not the site fee for a custom wedding.
