I made DS the burger and fries (cake/brownie/cookies) for his birthday party - everyone loved it!!! It's under the fathers day stuff............. I'll post some pics in case anyone is interesed. :goodvibes

I LOVE her things and would love to make them, but think I would be frustrated super when they don't turn out as cute as hers!

Did you print the templates for the tray, french fry holder and tray liner? They were so cute. I saved them to use some day.

I did for the french fry holder.......... but edited it to say Happy Birthday JR -

I actually bought trays with lids - since he did this with his class at school too - and it worked out so well, I just used them for the party too.......... as for the liner, I bought the paper she advises - but didn't print on it......... I just cut it to size for the trays I bought. It turned out so darn cute............. everyone LOVED it - his teacher even asked if I'd do it for her DS's b-day...................

Oh, also, just an fyi - on the "fries" - she suggest you cut the cookie dough FIRST - UMMMMMM yeah, NO - that was a HUGE mess - I baked the cookies and AS SOON AS they came out of the oven, I sprinkled them with the raw sugar - then cut them right away with a pizza cutter - it worked SO well and was MUCH easier than her method!!!

I gotta find my pics - it was beyond cute!!!

Wendypooh...definitely post your pic...I would love to see how yours came out. I think I may even be able to make these...the round pops...I'm still not sure. Here is a link for anyone that wants the templates and directions for making these...and just so you know, the original creator used store bought cake and brownie mixes. You don't have to make these from scratch!

Thanks for sharing. I've been to the bakerella site before, but now I'm definitely bookmarking the site.

I'm a huge bakerella fan too! My sister and I did cake pops for a baby shower (so cute). We followed her directions but something went slightly wrong. We froze the balls between each step, so as they warmed up to room temperature, the chocolate on some of them cracked and a few even seemed to explode off their sticks! :scared1: Imagine my surprise when I heard something hit the floor and turned around in time to watch my dog run in fear from the cake ball that just landed on him!

These Mickeys and Minnies were sooo cute, but I'd definitely only do the ones without the faces! I don't think I could get the noses molded right and the faces drawn on right! :goodvibes I made some (ugly) cake balls for my friends after I made the pops - they're delicious frozen!

Thanks for the laugh! I can just see your dog running from the exploding cake pops. They really were given the right name "pop". :lmao:

Wendy...were did you get the trays with lids?

I actually got them at the dollar tree............ I had to buy so many!!!! They were square silver bottom trays with white lids - I made a label to go on the lid with a big frog prince and it said something about celebrating ds's b-day - forget exactly right now......... I've actually saved the pics to the other comp. but will try to get them posted here today!!! :goodvibes

They were actually SUPER EASY to do........... just time consuming when you are making 70 of them!!! :scared1: Thats a lot of brownies, cookies and cupcakes!!! :goodvibes

IF you click on each pic - it will enlarge so you can see the detail. This was fun.......... time consuming, but worth it. They turned out so CUTE!!! :goodvibes

**DS took these pics........ so some of them are a little blurry - sorry!!

Great job. Those turned out TERRIFIC! I will definitely have to make those some day! If you just lived a little bit closer...I would pay you to make them for me. :goodvibes

LOL - funny thing is his teacher BEGGED me to make them, obviously she was going to pay me........... but, OMG, I'm not sure I want to tackle it again - esp. for that many!!!! :scared1:

I literally took me ALL day and well into the evening........... I had to bake enough cupcakes, cookies and brownies to make just over 70 of those boxes............. PLUS put them all together and make the fry template and cut and put them together and then the lables for for the boxes........... it made for a LONG day!!! They were awesome and everyone loved them........... BUT, next time, it won't even be anywhere close to that many!!! LOL

Those are AWESOME! Great job! I was just thinking about those... at least for the "burger" patties... know how people make pumpkin bread in soup cans? (Please tell me you know what I'm talking about. lol) What if you made the brownies (or chocolate cake) like that? You could turn them out as cylinders and freeze them to make them more solid to cut into circle patties. Just thinking outloud... wondering if that would help make it faster for you at all? idk. :)

When we made our cake pops people kept telling us we could go into business and sell them. We felt the same way you did - they take soooo long! It's really more a labor of love to make the bakerella stuff than something I want for a job. BTW - I decorate cakes (professionally on the side), and Thursday I'm tackling making Andy's bed from Toy Story for my nephew! Wish me luck! :goodvibes

Dolly - I came across the Bakerella site a few months ago and immediately thought of you! I don't know why. I never met you but I feel like you are an old friend. I guess that is DISboards for ya. :goodvibes

Joanna - would love to see a pic of Andy's bed. I saw a Toy Story cake with Andy's bed and other characters on a Food Network cake challenge. What took them hours to assemble would have taken the rest of us months! It came out awesome. Ha ha, I have never tried to bake a bread or cake in a soup can, terra cotta pot or even microwave them in a coffee mug (saw that the other day from Hungry Girl blog). Not that adventurous I guess. My girls will be in kindergarten soon (OH HAPPY DAY! HALLELUJAH!!), so I have been taking notes and saving ideas for birthday parties, like Bakerella's cupcake pops.

Thank you Wendy for more notes in my recipe file!!

Sandy

I've always wondered about cooking in a can. I'm too afraid I would go to all of that trouble and not be able to get it out. :goodvibes

Sand, thanks for the nice note!
