Noticed our 8ft. Mickey Mouse inflatable had tipped over, so I went out to stand him back up, and found this:

Someone had come along with a sharpie marker and given him "male and female anatomy" and a cigar in his mouth. I can't believe that at Christmas someone would be so cruel and destructive.

Guess I will have to put him in the trash :sad2: Hope the parents of the kids that did it are proud...

Yeah, Merry Christmas to them too

I've seen atleast 3 or 4 articles in the paper recently about Christmas decorations being ruined, cut, broken, etc in the Orlando area. So sad.

no way to try and remove the marker?? maybe acetone? or hairspray? I'd try something before I threw in the towel....err, I mean Mickey. Sorry someone ruined him :sad2:

I'm sorry. That's so sad.

We've recently had an "outbreak" of Christmas vandals around here too. MIL's inflatables, Christmas flag, and some other decorations were destroyed at their home. They cut holes in her inflatables.

I have some decorations attached to my mailbox (greenery, ornaments, etc.). It's all wired pretty good around the bottom. I noticed it sideways the other day, so I think someone tried to drive by and rip it off....HA HA!! I hope they hurt themselves when it just wouldn't let go!

So sorry this happened. People are such idiots.

Thank you all for the thoughts... :goodvibes

I have already tried 409 and nail polish remover. Guess I will try a few other things before "tossing" him out.

Thanks again :)

One year, I woke up to find a snowman built on our front lawn. (still lived at home at the time). As I'm leaving for school, my dad right behind me, we notice the front of it. Someone had placed a doughnut with a carrot in the middle in it's you know where!! :rotfl:

Turns out a friend of mine did it.

I never did let my dad know that I knew who did it!

:grouphug: How frustrating..

We have those lightup reindeer.. the ones that are wire and one of its head moves side to side and the other one moves up and down.. the reindeers have white lights all over them.. At our last house we went out to get a quick bite to eat and the lights were left on.. when we returned we found the reindeer humping!! The one on bottom was moving its head no where the one from behind was moving its head yes... At first it was kinda funny.. of course we put them back where they belong, but it got old cause we kept finding them like that.. obviously a neighborhood kid thought it was funny.. They ended up breaking the lights on one of them.. :confused3 So glad we moved from there.. On Halloween of the same year I had went and bought like 15 pumpkins for decorations for the yard and woke up one Saturday morning and all 15 were smashed in the street!

The same thing happened to us a couple of weeks ago. We have a cute inflatable 4 foot mickey dressed as santa holding an ornament on our front lawn. I looked out the window to check it one night and saw it ripped apart and torn out of the ground. Someone tried to steal it, but couldn't get it and ended up ripping it. Well it turned out it was a group of teenage girls who thought it would be funny to vandalize and steal xmas decorations. They caught them, dh had to go down to the police station and talk to the parents. The 17 year old driver of the "getaway car" ended up giving us money to replace the mickey because all the others were underage and couldn't really get into any trouble. My dd's and I were so upset, but as I told them, no one is going to harm my mickey and get away with it!!!!!

Thanks for all the info on choices to try to clean Mickey...

So far I have tried: spot shot cleaner, hair spray, rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover and 409. Nothing has worked :sad2:

Anybody got any other ideas???

:grouphug: NOT cool at all.

My mom used to carve REALLY nice pumpkins, but one year the night before halloween some boys came and smashed them with a hammer. I still remember running outside and yelling for them to stop, but they smashed them all and drove away. Brats. Now we hardly ever carve pumpkins.

Call the "Sharpie" manufacturer and ask them how to get it off.

Sorry, don't have one with me right now and don't know who makes them. I'm sorry I'm not much help w/ my suggestion.

Good luck. I'm so sorry for your loss. People just don't have any respect for anyone or anything anymore. It seems that it is not PC to be respectful anymore. And that is what is so sad.

Calling Sharpie is a great idea!! I was thinking maybe "oxyclean"?

It appears that the rate of vandalism is going up around the same time as the decorations looking more and more like trash. ;)

Is it just me or is vandalism on the rise? Just this morning, the news had a guy in NH that had his Christmas lights cut with wire cutters and before Christmas they reported on a MA family that had their nativity scene smashed to bits.

What is wrong with people?
