Hello I have never been to Disneyland at Halloween time , was wondering is the Mickey Halloween party worth it? And does a certain part of the park closes for that since they r charging $59 a person on top of admission?

The Halloween Party Ticket gets you admission at 3 or 4pm depending on which date you are going. At 6 or 7pm (again depending on the day) the park closes to regular guests and those not having a wrist band (meaning they did not pay for the party) are asked to leave. After that time it is only people that have paid for the party that are allowed in the park. Most of the park is open during the parties. Restaurants are the exception, I believe a lot of the restaurants are closed at that time.

Thanks for the quick reply guys! Wow still debating if it's worth it! Sounds interesting! One more quick question so are the characters only dressed up in their Halloween outfits during this party? Or is just more easy to catch them during this time? Are they in their iconic outfits during the day? Sorry so much questions ! Trying to plan a one night trip for trAveling in two weeks from now

I wondered the same thing last year...is it really worth it for the extra price?

We went last year (family of 5) and had a blast! We all dressed up and were there the entire time. We saw so many fun characters in Halloween costume, loved the Halloween parade and fireworks and did so much trick-or-treating. We ended up with over 30 lbs of candy! The candy was good stuff: chocolate!

The lines for the rides were very short, especially as the evening progressed. We didn't ride much because we were there in the middle of a multiple day trip. But, dh and I were saying that it would be a great night to avoid allow of the party stuff and just ride the rides...no lines and you'd get a ton done.

It was also fun to see Disneyland in a different way. Rivers of America was all dark and fogged over, most people were wearing costumes, it was just a fun atmosphere.

A note: at the beginning of the event, lines for candy and meeting characters were long. Not horrifying, but longish. They kept moving well though. By the end of the night, especially after fireworks, we were walking up to trick-or-treat stations and CMs were handing out handfuls of candy.

If I went without younger children I'd first ride rides, then trick-or-treat. :)

It's worth it...go and have fun!!

Thanks! Sounds good! So during the day time the characters are still in their regular outfits and only during this party they wear their halloween outfits?

I THINK characters have Halloween outfits all day (I've certainly seen photos from last year of characters in costumes in sunlight!), but I'm not certain.

I think the party is worth it if you love Halloween, have always wanted to dress up and/or Trick or Treat at Disneyland, or if you weren't planning on visiting the parks on the party day anyway, since the extra-price ticket gets you up to 7 hours in the park. If you already have a park hopper for use that day and don't fall into any of the other categories, then the value of the party admission decreases somewhat, IMO.

Opinions seem to vary widely on line lengths and crowds. Some people say they were wonderfully short, while others (like myself) thought lines were much longer than expected. Even between the people I spent the party with and other members of my family who also went to the SAME party the SAME night, there were differing opinions on crowds; some of us thought it was crowded and some thought it wasn't.

So I think the experience of crowd levels hinges on a few things. It depends on you're used to (our last trip, World of Color weekend, actually, had not been crowded at all, so that's what I expected here)! It depends on expectations (I'd read all about "walking on" to rides and was disappointed by the fact that some popular rides had lines of up to and over 20 minutes...some lines seemed longer than during the day!). And it depends on perhaps having a good plan, but perhaps luck. I was the only one in my party who reads the DISboards, so in theory I was the one who had formulated a plan. And I think I was the most disappointed, because the party didn't match what I'd expected from reading here.

Where can we find the schedule for when the parade and fireworks are happening? I've tried looking all over the Disneyland website and couldn't find a thing! Please keep this thread alive, the tips really help!

Since the first party is not until this Friday, we don't know yet. I am sure schedules will be posted soon as folks are able to do so. :)

I am excited to find out as well. We might even watch the mini-parade this year.

OK here is a STUPID question, but can I buy a costume at main street disney? I am goi9ng to be down there and I want to do the halloween party. It is my daughters first time going and think that will be the icing on the cake :) I don't belive I have enough time to purchase one online before I go.

I know I saw plenty costumes at DTD last year but that was before the Halloween parties started (it was around the opening day of the Halloween season). I imagine they'd keep fairly stocked up during this time of the year though. Maybe someone that has actually gone during the actual party times would know more.
