We're going to get our kids ears for autographs for our upcoming trip. Can anyone tell me if silver, gold, and bronze sharpies work on the ears or does it need to be a "paint" pen?

Thanks!

I would stick with the sharpies. I have never seen autographs on Mickey Ears before but it sounds like a great idea.

I hadn't even thought of that! Awesome idea, I may have to borrow that one.

Would stick with sharpies...it is going to be hard to see on the black material although.

I would like to bump this and see if anyone has any experience.... would the silver sharpies work ok? Those exist right? lol

Buy s couple markers and try them on various black fabrics at home. The neon ones work great on black counter tops, so you might try them as well.

They DO make silver Sharpies! :P I've used them - they were called metallic Sharpie or something to that effect.
I have not used them on ears or black fabrics, but they worked great on some brightly painted stepping stones I was crafting up. They reminded me a bit of the paint pens you can use on ceramics and such.
I agree with PP - go buy a little black felt or fabric (whatever you can find most similar to the ears) and experiment at home. Autographed ears sounds really neat!

Avoid paint pens if at all possible. It's way too easy to smudge them accidentally because they don't dry instantly. For projects that will have a bit to dry, paint pens are awesome, but if it's going to get touched again before it's done drying...I'd hate to be the reason Mickey had paint smeared on his glove from when he handed back the hat (or put it on the kid's head)! Silver and gold sharpies should work fine, they've certainly worked on black fabric I've used in the past.

I agree. I avoided any type of pen that said to press down on the tip to release the ink/paint. I've used those in the past for dun and they're such a mess. Especially when the ink won't flow so you try to press harder and make it worse. Lol

I ended up getting a silver sharpie. Will see how it works on wed :)

Reporting back on my experience. The silver sharpies were not the best for the Mickey ears. They worked out but don't show up that good. So if you're looking for a subtle autograph it's awesome. :)
And this was just on the actual hard ear part. I didn't try it on the headpiece.
