Hi all,

When you buy the child Mickey ears in DL, how much is the charge for embroidery? Is it per letter or per name? Also, about how much do the child ears cost these days?

Thanks!!

Hi -

If you buy the ears at DL in the "Hat Shops" -- one near Alice in Wonderland ride in FL --- if I remember correctly it is called "The Mad Hatter" and there is another one on Main Street just after you walk under the bridge on the right side -- I cannot remember its name (probably... Main Street Hats or something easy) and I am sure there are more locations in the park that sell them and do the stitching right there while you wait but these 2 I am SURE they will "stitch" you childs name on the ears as well as other types of hats. The cost is FREE ~~ you pay for it in the cost of the hat!!

The Ears run around $12.00 for the basic black and go up from there. I do not think WOD in DTD does the "stitching" -- ask before you purchase --- they may say show your receipt at the Mad Hatter or the other place and they will do it for you.

Hope this helps!!

My experience has been that you can purchase the ears at any of the shops, and show your receipt at any of the stitching Mad Hatter shops. It might be different now, but when I had ours stitched for the 50th anniversary, the Frontierland Mad Hatter shop still hand stitched your name, while the other shops used computers.

I thought we paid $18 each, but that was the golden 50th ears, so maybe they were more? I cant recall, but the embroidery was free and turned out so wonderful!

uhhh, the hats usually have these tags that says "Embrodiery Voucher" attached to it on the hat. I know ODV sells the glowing hats and they come with that Voucher...

When we got our hats in late September last year, they were sewn by hand; however, the CM told us all the hand-embroidery machines were being removed in a few days and replaced with computerized ones. (At the time, her station in Tomorrowland and I think the one in Frontierland were the last 2 places you could get hand embroidery.)

Also, you can get your name actually embroidered (instead of just stitched) at Disney Showcase on Main Street. You have to pay extra for it, but I can't remember how much it costs (for some reason $12 sticks in my head, but I think that they charge per letter). You can also choose your font and color.

I've had several things embroidered at the Disney Showcase. It is $7. I think it is money well spent - they do a very good job and you have a choice of several fonts and seven colors. It personalizes my items that thousands of others have and it makes me feel special:goodvibes . By all means, if you want an item personalized, take it there and spend the $7. You will not regret it.
