Sorry if this is a stupid question, but, I was thinking today about our upcoming trip and how I'm sure my ds will want a mickey balloon while we are there. The question is, can you bring a balloon home with you on an airplane and put it in the overhead compartment? I was just thinking of how pricey the balloons are and it's a shame to have to let it go at the end of the week (although, I'm sure it will be a pain in the neck to bring it home). Just wondering...

Depending on when you buy them I don't think they will stay inflated that long. And what happens if one pops on the plane? It could start a panic.

years ago we tried...before 9/11 and new regulations- they made us put it in a closet, and the pressure made it deflate anyway- when we got one for our ds,we bought it like the 1st minute we got there, and enjoyed it for our trip, and that was that.

I would also consider the fact that if you do put the balloons in the overhead compartment that you risk the ire of other passengers. With all the luggage rules and fees space in the compartments is at a premium. And I can tell you one thing if I got on a plane and the compartment above my row didn't have room for my bag because of a couple balloons I would be very upset.

I get them when we first get there, then before we leave I deflate them and take them home I still have one from DS 14's 1st visit, it brings back good memories:lovestruc

I have seen balloons being deflated at the gate, they were not permitted on.

You could always buy one, then let your son pass it along to some other child at your resort to enjoy!

We bought one of the big ones with another Mickey balloon inside, what we did was deflate it and packed it in our suitcase. For a small fee Party City will inflate them for ya.
