Mickey Back yard B-que

Our group of 6 did this dinner back in December 2001. We had been to Hoop-De-Doo many times and wanted to try something different. We had a nice relaxed time and enjoyed the food, although it was pretty much standard barbeque fare. One of my favorite memories is my mother-in-law, me and Chip square dancing after dinner (fun photo op, too). That and seeing my husband and brother-in-law line dance with Goofy.

The dinner can bit a bit tough to get to if you're not staying at Fort Wilderness. We found it easier to park at Wilderness Lodge and take the water shuttle than to take the two sets of buses.

You walk down a dirt path right by Pioneer Hall and Crocket's Tavern to an open-air pavillion. As you enter, they check ID's for those would would like beer with their meals (otherwise I think it was lemonade and maybe soda as well as water). You then proceed to a couple of buffet lines, where items such as hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, cornbread, chicken and a few other items I can't recall are laid out. You then choose your seat from many long picnic tables. If the dinner is crowded, you most likely will share with at least one other group, but the tables are really long. Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Goofy were the characters at our dinner, as well as several "human" friends and a country band. We were entertained by 2 human MC's and another fellow who was quite impressive with a lasso. At certain times kids as well as grown-ups are encouraged to head to the dance floor for country dancing.

After a while, a couple of large sheet cakes (with an American Flag) are brought out to the buffet lines-- I think they were chocolate and vanilla with vanilla buttercream.

Hope that helps! We plan to try this again in October when the group goes to WDW again.

DH has wanted to try this for a while, so we are finally doing it in April. It sounds like a lot of fun. My DD's should it enjoy it. ::yes::

Is the seating pre-assigned? Do I need to arrive really early to get a good table? (The CM that I spoke with last night said that the tables were assigned. Was she wrong?) Thanks for any info!

we did not have preassigned tables--just where we could all fit! they are long picnic-like tables. i would recommend arrving early to get in line. you might want to take a jacket or sweater as it might be chilly at night; you are in an open sided building.

Is there more than one seating for Mickey's BBQ?:) How much are tickets? We are trying to plan a character meal for our first non park day. I called for Chef mickey but it was full. I did get Gullivers but don't know that I'm thrilled. Any other suggestions? My son is 8 and daughter 6. thanks

I believe that the BBQ runs Tues. & Thurs. & that is just one seating for it.

I can't remember the prices off the top of my head, but I want to say about $30 per adult & $25 per child, although I could be totally wrong about that.

Anyone else have that info on hand?

Not sure of the individual cost, but I have PS for myself and my DS age 6 and the total came to $64. My guess is something like 38 for an adult and 26 for the children. Very happy that folks gave good info about it, I was getting concerned that there is not much to read on this event.
It seems like getting there is the problem. For those who have been is driving there better than using Disney transportation??

Which day are you going? We will be there March 25th! We have a car so we will drive to it. Can't wait! My DD's wanted to do the Bar-B-Que rather than PSB.;)

Just looked at my info - $39 for adults $25 for children.

You can either drive or take a bus, but either way you will have to transfer at the main outpost in FW & get on an internal bus that goes to Pioneer Hall.

Or if you are coming from the MK or the Contemporary you can get on a boat that will take you directly to the Pioneer Hall area.

I can't remember if a boat runs from the TTC to FW. Anyone?
