Mickey and the Monduhrail! The Stitchs' World Tour! Update 11/1!

haven't eaten at WPE either, always say we are but EoS wins everytime,,,we love the caprese sandwich YUM....mouth drooling! the food does look really good through, Brian's sandwich is HUGE!
at least D is getting some fruits in....Megan still loves her nuggets and fries

love the photos of D on "his" bus! you could save lots of $$ and just ride the bus around and around all day :rotfl2: he'd be one happy boy :yay:

Oooh, I haven't tried the caprese sandwich--I'll have to check that out! Yes, Bri's sandwich was something else! I think he ate most of it though! ;)

I know. . .I joked the whole time that I could just buy a KAT pass (the Knoxville bus service) and have saved a lot of money compared to WDW, and he'd be thrilled! :rotfl2:

Count me in!! Enjoying your TR..

Welcome!!!! Thanks for reading along! :yay:

I told Brian at dinner that I had to try that sandwich! :thumbsup2 You're right about D....he does so love those buses! :rotfl2:

It just hit me that I only have about 4 weeks left of summer vacation. . . So, let's get another update going! ;)

After a great night’s rest, we woke up (without setting an alarm. . .YAY for relaxation day!) and went down to Roaring Forks for breakfast. Roaring Forks, over this vacation, became my favorite resort’s quick service!

IMG_0964.jpg

I got the Wilderness waffles. They had pecans and maple butter on them. YUM. YUM. YUM!!

IMG_0960.jpg

Brian had the croissant sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese.

IMG_0961.jpg

D had. . .and it wasn’t chicken and fries. . .Mickey waffles and bacon!

IMG_0959.jpg

We went back to the room, got our “swimmin’ pants” on (as D says), and headed for Silver Springs pool.

IMG_0967.jpg

IMG_0969.jpg

On the way, we passed the beach! So pretty!

IMG_0966.jpg

On to the pool!!

IMG_0979.jpg

D had a lot of fun in the pool.

IMG_0974.jpg

His one brave moment was when he decided he needed to ride the slide. He had on a life jacket, and I took him to the top while Bri waited at the bottom. D didn’t realize he had to keep himself sitting up on the slide, so at the bottom, he was upside down and backwards! Scared me to death! It’s about a 3-second ride. . .a fact I was very glad for! He didn’t cry when it was done, but he didn’t want to ride it again! Go figure! ;)

He DID enjoy playing in the rocks at the waterfall area:

IMG_0986.jpg

After lots of pool time, I went over to watch the geyser. It is so cool! D came to watch it with me.

We swam for about 2 ½ hours or so, and then went back to the room to get ready for lunch. On the way, I spotted this pretty little Wilderness Lodge friend:

IMG_1003.jpg

My good friend and co-worker’s daughter was playing in a softball tournament that day back home, so we wore our team t-shirts to cheer them on from WDW!

IMG_1004.jpg

When we got to Roaring Forks, I had the pulled pork bbq flatbread (yes, I had an unending love affair with those flatbreads!). I had seen it on the menu on All Ears, and I couldn’t wait to see how good it was. Here it is:

IMG_1005.jpg

It was SUPER yummy! It was heavy, but being a Southerner, I do LOVE my bbq pork! Put it with cheese on a flatbread, and I was one happy girl!

Bri had the Wilderness Salad. He said it was really good!

IMG_1006.jpg

D had peanut butter and crackers and fries. We took them down with us so he could have something besides chicken. ;)

We went back for nap after that, because we had a busy night ahead!

Next Up: The Stitchs Hit Chef Mickey's!

Love having a relaxing morning at WL.

Glad to hear you liked Roaring Forks-The one time we stayed there, I remember it being good. Those waffles with the pecans and butter-YUM! Makes me think of those pecan pancakes at Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg! :)

your breakfast and luch look yummy! cute photos of D in the pool! especially the one with his shades! sorry he got scared on the slide!

you only have four weeks left....we don't get down with school until tomorrow! so we are just starting

They are sort of like Pancake Pantry. . .yummalicious!! I really thought Roaring Forks was terrific!

Harry Potter was definitely worth it! I bet your boys loved it! WL was definitely beautiful! I kept saying, "I'm not going to want to stay anywhere else" while we were there!

You should definitely try Wilderness Lodge! We want to try all of the DVC resorts, as well as several of the non-DVC. . .I am so excited for the Poly next spring, I am beside myself!!

Another update coming in next post!!

Rested and ready once more, we headed out for Chef Mickey’s. Our ADR was at 5, and we left our hotel about 4:00.

IMG_1011.jpg

We took the bus to Magic Kingdom, and waved as we walked by the front gates. . .telling MK we’d see it soon! We had a Mouse to meet for dinner!

We headed up to the monorail station, and the highlight of D’s vacation began! As soon as the monorail pulled in, he said, “MOMMA!!!! It’s the MONDUHRAIL!!” It was the Avenger-orail, and we were really excited to ride it. . .even for the short trip to Contemporary!

We were the only ones in our section of the “monduhrail” car, so we took advantage of that to take some pics. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!

IMG_0828.jpg

IMG_1014.jpg

IMG_1013.jpg

We got to the Contemporary pretty quickly, and decided to look around in the shops, since it was a little before our ADR time.

D found the Disney Racer display. . .so of course, another one had to come home with us. I think this one was the Storm Trooper! I am a sucker for my little guy and those cars he loves!

After checking out the stores, we checked in to Chef Mickey’s. They weren’t open for dinner yet, but they had handed out buzzers to about 5 families before us. We went over and sat at the big windows, checking out the pool area while we waited. I don’t know what it is about the Contemporary, but I just don’t love it. When we bought into DVC, we sort of made a “goal” to stay at all of the DVC ones over the course of many years. I just can’t get excited about that one, but maybe it’s just me!

Pretty soon after that, they opened the restaurant and we went right in. We had our picture made (we had PhotoPass Plus, so I felt like it was “free”. LOVE how Disney skews my logic like that!). I had one of those “holy cow” momma moments. . .this was the first trip that D was considered a “grown-up kid” and the photographer had him stand next to Mickey. Always before one of us had to hold him! I don’t know why that just struck me, but it did.

Photo0002FourBySix.jpg

Mickey’s ear evidently was feeling a little “close” to me. :rotfl: I like the picture though, and even without the Plus, I probably would have been drawn into buying it!

We got to our table, and we were in the room to the left of the buffet, just as you walk in. It was the first time we have ever sat there. I went and got food for me and D while Brian ordered our drinks and entertained D. The server brought the drinks just a couple of minutes before I got back to the table. When I got there, Brian said, “Taste D’s milk. He says it tastes funny and he won’t drink it.” This is sort of a family joke—it is ALWAYS my role to smell or taste stuff that everyone else thinks smells/tastes funny. I guess someone has to “prove” it or something?? Anyway. . .I tasted it, and sure enough, it was CREAM!!! It about made me gag, so I can imagine how awful D thought it was! I caught the server’s attention and asked her to switch it. She came back to the table with another milk and explained that they had accidentally switched the containers in the back that day. Wonder how many more people thought they were drinking “funny” milk? I had to convince D to drink a little of it. . .he kept saying, “I don’t want any more of that ice cream milk”. . .but eventually he did, and we were good to go!

I love Chef Mickey’s food! I had shrimp, rolls, salad, and a whole bunch of other stuff. For some reason, I didn’t think it was as great as it was last year (and Brian agreed), but we both enjoyed it anyway!

First to our table was Minnie. Now, we always do this meal first on a non-park day, because it’s a calmer environment to re-introduce D to the characters. When Minnie arrived, D was like, “Nope. Not going.” So Brian got down on the floor with him and took him to Minnie.

IMG_1015.jpg

IMG_1016.jpg

I, of course, had to have my pic made with Minnie, too! She’s just too cute!

IMG_1017.jpg

After she left, D kept telling us he thought he was ok with seeing the characters now! ;)

The next one was Pluto, and Brian got up to take D again. He was much more comfortable, and after that, he decided he didn’t need us to go with him. Of course, we did for some, though. . .just to sneak into the pics!

IMG_0838.jpg

Minnie came back around at the end, and D decided he would show her how he was a big boy now and could go up on his own! She was, of course, properly impressed!

IMG_1040.jpg

During the celebration part, the server brought D a cupcake. Remember, this trip was supposed to have been later on, and FOR his birthday (it’s in August). He knew we were going for his birthday, so I didn’t change it on the reservations. It was my fault we had to move the trip. . .I wasn’t going to take that fun away from him!

He was so excited that they wanted him to blow out the candle! Even after it was done, he would say, “Are you ready Momma & Daddy? 1-2-3!” Then he would blow like he was blowing out the candle and say, “Happy Birthday to Dalton and Momma and Daddy!”

IMG_1034.jpg

IMG_1036.jpg

It was too cute!

Normally, after our Chef Mickey’s dinner, we head back to the resort. Tonight, though, I had a surprise going on, so I knew we needed to stay away from the resort for a while. So. . .which park would we go to?? Guesses???

Next update: The Stitchs Enter a Park!

THAT was a GREAT update! Between the Avenger poses and the "frisky" Mickey ears, I was laughing out loud :lmao:

Also made me laugh was the picture with your DH and DS with Goofy. I'm not sure if it was just the angle of the picture or what, but it sort of looks like one of Goofy's whiskers is about to or already has poked your DS in the eye especially with him making his "cheese" face. :rotfl: Very cute!

great photos!

fun on the "monduhrail" :woohoo: D for being able to be with the characters so quick!
just love his little scruncy nose photos
and how sweet , just love his cupcake photo and what he said!
we love CM too, usually go for breakfast though.

hmm, I think you went to the MK!!!!!

Just found your trip report and am thoroughly enjoying it. We go in September with our then almost 4 year old DD so I love hearing about Dalton's reaction and seeing the oh so adorable "cheesy" face.

Loved the Harry pics. I am so sad we don't have time for it this year and won't be back for quite awhile. We live on the westcoast so next trip will be DL.

Can't wait to read more and pick up some tips.

He thought he was Mr. brave Big Boy for going back up to the characters! :thumbsup2. Thank you! He loves to "share" stuff with everyone! I like Chef Mickey's breakfast, too. We may try that again next time! We'll see if you're right about the park in tomorrow's update! ;)

Hi! Welcome! Ooh, you'll have to do a TR for your September trip, so I can follow along too! September is my absolute favorite time to go! D is a mess and he LOVES WDW! I bet your DD will too! Brian wants to do DL sometime in the next few years. . . I think I want to wait awhile before taking D on that long of a plane ride, though!

Great update! I had to go back and look at the picture after I read your comment, and then I noticed that crazy ear! Had me laughing a'loud!

So glad D got right back into his character meets! :)

Cool you want to go to DLR, you definately need too, its not that long of a trip probably 4 hours , its the time change that will get you though! D will love it especially the new CarsLand at DCA! we can't wait to go next year and see it!

DLR is SOOOOO different. You only need 4 days or so just for DL. I love it though. On the westcoast we go there until our kids are usually older before we take the long trip across country to WDW. We are taking DD16 and DD18 on our last family trip so DD4 is lucking out for her first trip. I will let you know how the plane ride goes since D is the same age. (She is 3.5 now and will be a month away from her 4th birthday when we go. So I just call her 4 when talking about the trip.) Can't wait to hear what you do for D's b-day. We will be celebrating Kaitlin's 4th birthday there to.

I've been flying with my DD now 12 cross country since she was 3 months old....my best advice for the little ones travelling is LOTS of snacks, a few new items to play with, favorite books, something they love to snuggle with and if possible a portable DVD or something to watch movies/shows on...I was lucky with Megan and she never had melt downs on planes, sometimes people didn't even know there was a kid by them :thumbsup2

I agree with 4 days for first time to DLR, its so much easier to PH back and forth so you don't waste all that time and it so nice DTD is right there too!

I just did a roundtrip flight from DC to San Diego and back with DD5 and DS2 by myself as DW couldn't make the trip and it went well. Had to plan ahead a LOT of things including packing tons of snacks and toys including a few new toys that the kids hadn't seen before and those bought me a lot of time. Downloaded cartoons that the kids like to watch at home on my iPad since there was no wifi.

AND, I learned the magic of Ringpops (lollypops) for taxi-ing out of the gate, take offs/initial ascents and final descents. :thumbsup2 Kept both kids, especially DS distracted and in his seat without trying to undo his seatbelt. Plus, I think sucking on the lollipops also helped with equilibrating their ear pressures.
