Mickey and the Monduhrail! The Stitchs' World Tour! Update 11/1!

happy you had an easy, fun flight!
cute photo of you and D in front of the totem pole!
your room looks huge!

Yay! You've arrived at the WL! It's one of our favorites (we stayed there on our honeymoon). :thumbsup2

I think I asked you before (but I can't remember), did y'all fly out of McGhee Tyson? I couldn't tell from the pictures.

Glad to know you like Frontier Airlines. I'll be flying to South Dakota for a mission trip next month and we're flying Frontier from Nashville.

The animal topiary was very cool, glad you took the pic. Glad you guys were able to retrieve the potty seat!
I had brought post-it notes to cover the auto flush for my nieces. Once their mother (a kindergarten teacher) explained that they just needed to get used to it since they had the same type at school, I got it. Until I was with the newly turned 4 yo taking her potty for the first time with the automagic flusher--that was not fun, poor thing was scared:scared1:. But never heard anything about it after that!
Your villa looks really sweet and cozy:goodvibes I've never stayed at any Wilderness room, so it's nice to see what they look like :)
And mmmm to flat bread pizza! That's what I had our first night at Poly. . .the hawaiian, yummers!

Thank you! We love the 1-bedroom villas...Bri stays up late, and the extra space is always a blessing!

We definitely loved WL! We did fly out of McGhee Tyson. It was great! I would definitely fly Frontier again, and I'll check their website first for any flying I have to do! The whole experience with them was great!

The post-it notes are a great idea! They just have the regular-flush toilets at D's school (his daycare/preschool is in the school), so he was definitely not used to that! It got better, though, as the week went on! I do love the flatbreads! I saw the Hawaiian on the Poly menu. . .can't wait to have that!!!

Your room looks very cool. Sort of rustic-inspired, maybe? Sorry you had to wait so long for a room! It's hard with a little one!

It was rustic-themed...I loved it! It was a hard wait for D...and for his momma too! :rotfl2: The only frustration I had was that the first time I called from the house phone, the nice CM told me that the room was almost ready and to call back in 15 min. When I did, a not-so-nice CM wanted to know why I was calling, since the room didn't *have* to be ready until 4. But it all worked out in the end! :cool1:

Well, the arrival to WL was pretty uneventful minus the potty seat... good thing you were able to retrieve it... Tell D..auntie Nan still gets rattled when those doors/walls start moving all the time.. drives me crazy....

Sorry you had to wait a while for your room but at least you got in a bit earlier.... and a nap is extra nice!!!

I can't wait to hear more!!!
Ok, off to clean the living room.. doing a deep clean one room an evening (when it's cooler) before our trip... should be done with the house by the weekend... Dh is out reinforcing the shed doors... oh, got to remember to get the motion light for outside too... I took it out the other night when the kids were playing flash light tag... they would run out back and everyone knew who was where! :lmao:

BrerMama, looks like we will be down at the world about the same time.. we arrive on 6/22...staying at the dolphin!!!

That's hilarious about the flash light tag!! And good for you for the deep cleaning! Your trip is almost here!!!

New update coming in next post. . .

A Walk on the Dark Side. . .the Stitchs Venture to Universal!
Everyone dressed and ready? Let’s go! After nap and getting ready, we grabbed our overnight bag and were ready for Universal! I called for a taxi from our room, and right after we called, we walked out the door, headed to the lobby to meet them. When we got to the Taxi Van, the guy said, “I was about to leave you. They called your room, and you didn’t answer, so they were going to cancel the call.” I was a little confused about how I was supposed to meet them in the lobby AND be in the room to answer the call, but I wasn’t about to question it. Let’s go!

My guys in the taxi van (which D kept calling a “taxi tab”!)

We got to Royal Pacific Resort in about 15-20 minutes. It seemed a little longer because our driver (who was really really nice) wanted to spend the entire trip talking about what was wrong with the Education system in America. Okkkkk. . .I like friendly people, and I’ll talk to a wall, but it’s vacation! ;) For the sake of people planning to take a cab, our ride from Wilderness Lodge to Royal Pacific Resort was $50, including tip. I had read reports of it being $80-$90, so I was a little relieved!

We went in and checked in. I thought the resort was really, really pretty, and the lady at check-in was terrific. Our room was in Tower 3.

IMG_0826.jpg

From our window, we could see the pool area, and off to the right we could also see Dr. Doom’s FearFall ride.

We threw our stuff in the room, and headed to City Walk. I really liked the fact that you can walk everywhere! It was a short walk (maybe 5-7 minutes) and it was really pretty!

We had planned to eat at Margaritaville, but it was a little crowded. So, Brian decided Bubba Gump’s sounded good to him. We have one in Gatlinburg, TN, but we’ve never been to one. We fell in LOVE with this restaurant!!

IMG_0831.jpg

IMG_0834.jpg

This was the waiter “call” system. If you are doing good, you leave it on “Run Forrest Run”. If you need something, you turn it to “Stop Forrest Stop”, and the closest waiter helps you. It was great!

On our waiter’s recommendation, we tried the hushpuppies as an appetizer. They were terrific. . .they even had crab and shrimp in them! Yummalicious!

IMG_0835.jpg

Then, Brian and I split the Fisherman’s Feast. I didn’t get a pic of it, but it was fried shrimp, fried fish, and more hushpuppies. Not the healthiest meal by any stretch, but it ROCKED! D had. . .wait for it. . .chicken and fries!

Of course, we had to take dinner pics:

IMG_0836.jpg

IMG_0837.jpg

After that yummy dinner, we went to the store. All of the waiters and waitresses wore different Forrest Gump t-shirts, and I spent the whole meal trying to decide which one I liked the best. I ended up with a hat (I LOVE hats!) and a shirt that says, “My Mama Says I’m Special!” It still makes me laugh! Can’t wait to wear that one to inservice training days!

We walked around a few more minutes on City Walk. . .we loved it there! Then we walked back to our resort. Brian went in search of Diet Coke for him and milk for D, and I went in search of the source of all goodness, coffee. They served Starbucks at the bar area, so I got a tall cup of decaf. It was SO good!

Then, we went out by the pool. D loved the pool area, the fire pit, and just relaxing:

IMG_0847.jpg

We went back and watched a little TV and then, knowing we had to get up really early, we crashed for the night!

Next up: Yes, Harry, we’re coming!! The Stitchs Do Magic!

Love the "call" system... Stop, Forrest, Stop... that cracks me up!!!!

I love D's little face... he just makes me smile!!! Glad you are having a good time over at the dark side! LOL

Sorry about the taxi tab driver... last thing I want to discuss on vacation is the education system... too much drama there! :)

nice view from your room! we love bubba gumps, the servers are always fun!
don't you know, calories don't count when you are on vaca!

:rotfl2: about your shirt :thumbsup2 and you are special honey:)

Was that one of D's Disney buses behind him in the pic?
Love the call system and your shirt choice!
Your room looks lovely as well and always cool to see part of a park from your room!!!!
Looking forward to those WWOHP pics!!;)

Looks as if I missed two updates while I was at my daughter's college orientation!

I'm so glad you fell in love with WL (eventually ;) )!! We only stayed there once, but I have great memories of that resort-would love to stay there again, but as a family of 5, it's kind-of hard now.

Never been to Universal, so I'm especially looking forward to this part of your report. That room is beautiful! :)

I'm here and all caught up! Great start, and can't wait to hear more!

I'm hoping for a stay at the Poly in 2013, too! :thumbsup2

Yes, that was one of D's buses. . .he was very attached to the buses and Disney Racers. We take one with us everywhere!

WWOHP pics coming (with a shout-out to you!) in the next update!

Glad you're back and caught up! Universal was terrific! We will probably go back in 3-4 years when D is a little older and can do more!

WL was terrific! I am anxious to try it again!

I'm here and all caught up! Great start, and can't wait to hear more!

Yay! Glad you're here! I am so excited for the 2013 packages to come out so I can book our Poly stay. . .when are you going? We will be there mid-March!

Update coming below!

Welcome Muggles. . .and Stitchs!

We knew we had to get up early this morning, which means I had to get up extra-early! When 5 am rolled around, though, I was more than ready to jump out of bed! It was Harry Potter time! I got ready and re-packed what I could, and then I woke the guys up at 6:10. I went down and got some Starbucks Coffee (YAY!!), Diet Coke for Brian, and milk for D. We had PopTarts and granola bars in the room, and then we loaded up all of our stuff and headed out. We left our luggage with bell services downstairs, got drink refills, and took off for Islands of Adventure. It was already gray and foggy a little bit as we walked, but we didn’t care! We were headed to Harry Potter!

IMG_0850.jpg

We got our tickets at the window (since we had booked the Universal portion through AAA, we had to pick our tickets up there) and also got our vouchers for the free mugs. We waited in line for about 15-20 minutes (we were about 10 people back in the line, but it went WAY back after that). When I saw the line, I was REALLY glad we had booked a Universal hotel so we could have Early Entry. It wasn’t HORRIBLE, but I wouldn’t have wanted to have done IoA without it.

We spent the time taking pics:

IMG_0853.jpg

IMG_0854.jpg

About 7:45, they let us in. I snapped this pic on the mad dash to Harry Potter:

IMG_0855.jpg

We walked all the way through (with the crowd) until the area right past Poseidon. They stopped everyone there again until about 7:55. At that point, we made a mad dash, with bunches of our closest friends ;), to Harry Potter!

I was taking pics like a crazy person on the way (and MindyStar, I was able to get some without heads of people in them! :rotfl: ).

IMG_0856.jpg

Our first stop was Forbidden Journey. We knew that Brian would be the only one to ride this ride (motion sickness for me!), so D & I busied ourselves taking pics of everything.

IMG_0867.jpg

IMG_0868.jpg

IMG_0865.jpg

(say it with me, “Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Hoggy Hogwarts!”)

IMG_0860.jpg

IMG_0862.jpg

D started getting a little bored at that point, and wondering why his daddy got to go through the castle and he didn’t. So, we did what any mother and son combo would do. . .we went SHOPPING!! ;)

Filch’s Emporium, here we come:

IMG_0869.jpg

We ended up purchasing the Weasleys’ Flying Car for D, and I scouted for a t-shirt for later.

About that time, Brian got finished with the ride. We went back to the front of the castle to take the castle tour. We had to park the stroller. . .I mean. . .pram.

IMG_0870.jpg

Then we all got to go through the castle. There is a separate queue for castle tour people, separate from FJ riders. You get to see everything. . .you just don’t ride the ride.

The talking portraits were AMAZING!

IMG_0775.jpg

Honestly, if I could’ve taken a pic of every square inch, I probably would have. It was amazing! Here are just a few of my favorites, though:

IMG_0781.jpg

IMG_0777.jpg

IMG_0778.jpg

We finished the tour (nothing scary for little ones, if you’re wondering). I had thought we would all ride “Flight of the Hippogriff”, but D was completely against that. He thought it looked scary. So, he stayed with Brian, and I went off to ride. I loved being able to see Hagrid’s hut and hear Fang barking as I walked through the queue.

IMG_0881.jpg

IMG_0875.jpg

IMG_0880.jpg

I loved the ride!

IMG_0793.jpg

After I finished, though, I was glad D didn’t ride. It was definitely rougher than I thought it was going to be, and then ending was pretty abrupt. Probably not a ride for him right now!

Next up: More Magic to Come. . .and More Adventure!

I'm so jealous!!! You got great pics and got to ride rides!! We couldn't even make it into the castle to even look around without a two hour or so wait! I went through Filch's, but it was crazy crowded. You were pushed everywhere, things were sold out, and I was sweating like a Hogwart :lmao: by the time I stepped back into the flaming hot sun. I'm so glad you had a different experience, and it makes me excited to go again someday :goodvibes Thanks for the pictures!!!!!!!

I actually told Brian that we had to get good pics for you! ;) You should definitely go back and check it out again!

There will be some more in the next update. . .plus some other parts of IoA!
