Last time I was at Disneyland (Feb 2020) we went to go watch the show, but there was sign that said something along the lines of "Closed while we working on creating new magic for you"... I googled but nothing seems to show up. Was it one day thing? To me it seemed like a new show was coming.

I saw the show at the beginning of February and at the beginning of March. No differences as far as I could tell.

I believe the show was scheduled for Friday-Monday before the park closed. I always had to schedule it in, so I wouldn't forget to see it when it was available.
