Some one is holdng 10 hostages at Fairfield U in Ct..and I'm sure that is where Peggie
works...

Donna that is indeed where Peggie works. Hope things come to a safe end. I have heard nothing but I am not home. I will turn on my cell so that maybe I can get some further info.

Just checked the local news. A former student has taken 17 students and a professor captive in a religious studies class. Peggie is a nurse and should not be directly involved. Thoughts are with the 17 students and professor .

I am home and fine. Thank you for asking.
I was just leaving when tons of police cars and fire engines drove onto campus. They didn't have their sirens on so I figured they had something going on, maybe a meeting or something.
About 5 minutes later I heard it on the radio.
I spoke to the nurse on duty and she said it is very quite right now at the Health Center but things may get bad later in the evening. Of course I told her to call me in if she needs me.
We are most concerned with stress. We have 5 counselors on staff and they are at the dorms now talking to the students.
They have interviewed a few of the girls who were released and they said the person is very upset. Someone was able to take a knife away from him but he is claiming to have a bomb somewhere on his body. He made the students toss their bookbags out the window so security has a list of who is being held and they are notifying the families.
The phones to the University have been shut down because of the high volume of calls. Most students are trying to call home on cell phones.
I will pray that everyone is released soon, and keep you updated. Thank you all for your thoughts. Peggie

Well the hostage situation is over. He released the students a few at a time. No one knows yet why he did this.

The worst part is I knew the boy very well. He was a very close friend of my oldest son during high school. I drove him to school every day for 3 years, until their senior year when my son was able to drive.
He is such a sweet young man, I can't imagine what would have brought him to this.
My prayers go out to him and his family.
I just thank God that no one was hurt, although his family will suffer tremendously. This really hit home, not only did it happen at my place of employment, A Jesuit University where you think you will be safe, but I knew the boy too. Peggie

Such a shame..I wonder what set him off..I hope he gets some help I'm so glad he released everyone

But you are sooo right..we never know just where it can happen..we feel so safe until something
like this happens, and when it happens like this ..out of the blue, there is no warning,

He needs our prayers, as does his family, and again, I'm sure glad you were safe..
