Last time I was in WDW, I camped out for about two hours for a primo viewing spot along a fence in the hub to see Happily Ever After, and had a great experience. Being…vertically challenged, I was able to actually see the projections on the castle for once.

I’m hoping to re-create that at Disneyland! Does anyone have any recommendations for securing a spot near the partners statue? Are there any places that they clear out closer to show time that I wouldn’t be able to sit? What time do you recommend trying to find a spot? Appreciate any help!!!

If you are okay with waiting two hours, take the left side of the curb (on the hub) closest and facing the castle. Try to be in front of curb lip so you are elevated in front of the people on the cement/street in front of you. Here is a visual representation of what I am talking about RED = the Sweet Sport (fits about 4-5 people). Blue = the VIP roped off area.

If you want to walk up 15 minutes before and get a good spot go It's a Small World. IASW you still get the projections and you are really close to where they launch the fireworks. Problem is that you won't see what is happening at the castle area.

On most days for Mickey's Mix Magic, they first allow you to get a spot around the hub. 2 hours before is plenty for a first or second row spot and you should be able to see either the ropes or some people sitting down in that area. About 1 to 1.5 hours before the show, they'll usually clear out the area right in front of the castle. Some people who were originally first in the hub area will move to that area so you could often become first row even if you weren't originally. If you're part of the hour+ wait crowd in the hub area, there will be a walkway and the castlefront section in front of you. But the problem with the first row is that you're very close and will have to look up at a steep angle for the actual fireworks. Mickey's Mix Magic is generally the easiest fireworks show to get a spot for and I've gotten front row as little as 45 minutes before the show before.

I don't generally would not recommend the left side of the curb if other spots were available. Given that the fireworks are launched to the left side of the castle, most people prefer dead center to slightly off to the right.
