Hopefully you get a chance to read this Tracy. If you remember which michigan wines you enjoyed I might be able to supply some for the Podcast cruise. We have an annual wine trip and we hit all the wineries near (about 8) and stock up each summer. Its beautiful country and a great time. We finish off with dinner at one of the wineries with a great view and menu. Its the next best thing to Napa Valley.

We love to go up to Michigan to our favorite wineries... Round Barn is our favorite, (my favorite wine is their Guvertz)... Tabor Hill, Karma Vista...yumm.

We usually make a trip every year, but haven't been up yet. hopefully in the fall we can make it up for harvest.

Where do you like to go?

I love harvest time in the Michigan wineries. We've toured St. Julian during grape crushing and the aroma is incredible. It's nice to see a major grocery store in our area (Meijer) that carries Michigan wines.

Who needs Napa Valley when we have Southwest Michigan? ;) ;)

We usually hit St. Julian, Round Barn, Contessa, Tabor Hill, Free Run and Karma Vista.

ok Don. I know some of those places...... We may have to meet up and do a winery review for the podcast!

We work most weeks out of the big "D", or just south. We do utility stuff, so you can guess ( I think) where we end up......

Are you anywhere near PawPaw? I used to install computer systems and went to a unique bar near there.... many different beers and a reward for drinking "round the world"......if only I could remember the name.... well, now you understand how it is in my life......;) :rotfl2:

The Big T ??

I live about 30 mins east of good ole Two Paws!

If you make it to the area, we love hitting the wineries. Tabor Hill has a wonderful restaurant that overlooks the vineyards.

Oh that restaurant at Tabor Hill is to die for. We ate their a few years back in late August... had the place to ourselves... candlelight, wine... There was a B&B we stayed at in Union Pier, but it has since closed unexpectedly...now we are lost and don't know where to stay.

The little cafe at Round Barn is awesome too --- we had lunch there last year. We may try to do the Harvest Party at RB this year. Maybe we'll run into each other!

We do alot of pipeline work (Jamestown is my current data) and some contract work for DTE. Told DH don't know if I can handle northern winters again but if he put me on a lake for the other 3 seasons I could work on it!;)

hear hear!

Ditto, not to toot our Michigan horn, but we really do have
just about everything. We can ski in the summer and winter,
great beaches, great wines, moutains (kinda) and flat land.
Great islands, etc etc....

If you can handle the winter (which I love) then its hard
to beat it up here! IMHO

Just keeping us alive until Tracy returns to give us her feedback :)

The wineries in SW Michigan are great but also checkout the wineries in the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas north of Traverse City, MI. They are fantastic and the views of Lake Michigan can't be beat.

Those are nice also, although they make some really sweet wines I don't enjoy. They do put out a couple that are fabulous.

Thanks for bringing this one to my attention. I don't recall the name of the wine we tasted on the ship, but it was pretty good. I believe it was a Riesling, but I've had so many wines since then LOL.

I know for our honeymoon we stopped and picked up a Grand Traverse Cherry Riesling and loved it. We went to Mackinac Island for our honeymoon (at least part of it). Not too smart as I never realized that the UP is so cold in late May!

We just had a Leelanau sunset (sunrise?) a couple of days ago and it was lovely.

And the Cherry Riesling is in our bag to take to NY tomorrow!

I never knew I was so up on the "in" crowd!

We've been picking up MI wines for our hot tub wind downs at the hotel in MI. And trying Finger Lakes and Ontario wines in NY for "relax" time there.

Who needs CA when you have these wines?!?

Okay, I'll be stocking up on MI wines for the cruise then ;) mental note, Tracy likes the sweet stuff!!
