Michelle Duggar Hospitalized In Arkansas

Thank goodness she and baby are okay. Gallbladder attacks are terribly painful.

If I said anything like what has been said here about the Duggars about a gay person, how quickly would I be banned? :confused3

What happened to tolerance? What ever happened to, "I don't agree but it's none of my business?"

She was med-flighted ("airlifted") to the hospital for possible premature contractions? Is this a normal procedure or was she treated in a special manner? There is at least one hospital nearly in Fayetteville less than 20 miles away.

I think it probably has to do with which hospital has a NICU in the event that one is needed.

When I went into premature labor they sent me to a hospital within the state that had a state of the art NICU just in case. I wasn't med-flighted. They stuck me in the back of an ambulance and went for an hour and a half ride. I feel cheated.

(I ended up going full term after they were able to stop my labor.)

I'm glad they were able to stop your labor! The snarky part of me says that you got a slower ride because you were not a famous reality TV star. I wonder if the TV crew was filming that day :rolleyes1.

Im glad she and baby are doing fine. I feel like Josh and Anna were kinda pushed aside when their baby girl was born because The Duggars announced their 19th pregnancy around the same time as their grandchilds birth. Other than that, I really have nothing to say about how many kids they have. Just like pp's stated, as long as they can provide and take care of them. I wouldn't have wanted anyone telling me not to have my 5.;)

I really don't think that is the case, We don't know exactly what was going on with her medical condition. My hubby was in the hospital not too long ago and if he had one symptom he was going to be life flighted from one hospital to another, but if he didn't have this particular symptom, then he got the "slower ride" as you say. He got the "slower ride" thank God, because life flight would have meant something was really really wrong.

i don't agree with them on much of their beliefs, i think some of it is just crazy(no pants for the girls? and they can't go to college unless it's to go for nursing?? there's many more) and i think having 19 children is insane on so many levels.

that being said, it's always scary when someone has complications during pregnancy and i'm glad to hear that she and the baby are doing ok. maybe this will be their "sign from God" to stop with all this having babies non-sense and take care of the ones they already have.

omg ME TOO!! i'm hoping that Jinger is the one that breaks away and ends up writing the book!! or maybe John David.....but i can see Jinger being the one to do it over him.

I'm glad that she and the baby are ok.

I, myself, cannot imagine having 19 children. The thought itself scares the life out of me. But that family somehow makes it work. All of those children are healthy and extremely well behaved. They don't seem to be spoiled brats, they are honestly good children. To that you have to credit the parents. They're obviously doing something right.

I agree with you!!

I could think of other families that are really disfunctional but the Duggers seem like good people.

I didn't know they could only go to school for nursiing. That is kinda of werid when Michelle went to school and got her realtor license. I have heard a couple of the girls say they would like to be teachers

If a gay man or lesbian chose to have 19 babies and then exploit them on a reality show, then I, as a lesbian, would think they were idiots just as I think the Duggars are idiots. The biggest reason I think they are idiots is that they feel the need to keep their family in the public eye. Most celebrities do their best to keep their beloved families out of the spotlight, but nooooooooo, not these people, they want that attention as well as that money in their pocket books and will do whatever it takes to get it.

I'm no fan of most reality shows. Many of them exploit people and their families. But since they exist, I have this to say about them. They are no different than any other TV show. Take "Lost" for example. People analyze the characters all the time. Some people make fun of Kate, others hated Ana Lucia (count me as one). Consider the show "L-word." Jenny is probably the most hated character in history and was picked on endlessly. Well, why would anybody assume a reality show is different just because the "characters" are real? If you put yourself and your family in the public eye, then you and your fans must accept that not everybody will like you and you will be open to being analyzed, scrutinized and even ridiculed and insulted. This is what happens on TV whether it is reality or fiction. You just can't cry foul because a lot of people think the Duggars are idiots. They PUT themselves out there for people to view and judge. Some judge them as heroes, others judge them as morons.

This. It appears as though all Mom has to do is carry them, pop them out and hand them to the older buddy. The baby grows up going to the buddy for support rather than Mom. Kind of sad ... I know it works for them but traditionally it seems sad.

Actually she breast feeds all the babies and they sleep in her room.

With a baby that early in the pregnancy she would have been airlifted to the nearest hospital set up with a neo-natel intensive care. Most hospitals have a labor and delivery but not all of them have neo-nate facilities. They live in a rural area and Fayetteville might have a hospital but probably not a neo-nate.

"We are so thrilled," Michelle told People at the time. "We just couldn't believe it is happening."
What a strange thing to say. I mean, it's already happened 18 times. Why would they be unable to "believe it is happening"?

I mean, when I found out I was pregnant for the first time, it WAS amazing -- even a little hard to believe, even though I'd been trying to have a baby. But this woman has probably spent more of her adult life pregnant than non-pregnant. Her statement just seems odd.

Why is this so amazing? Back in the old days when there were farms to run, 18 children wouldn't raise an eyebrow. Why is it so different now?
