Well, Hurricane Isabel didn't stop our paper boy. He delivered our weekend ads today. Michaels has Sizzex dies for 50% off starting on Sunday. It doesn't look like the machine is discounted any though.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I will try to get there early. I am hoping to get a tag die if possible.

Sue

Does it mention if this includes the sets - or is it just the individual dies??? Enquiring minds need to plan (SIEZE) the day!

Also, is it just on Sunday, or is it for the whole week???

I am so excited - next Thursday, a new Micheal's opens up only 8 miles from my house:bounce: :bounce: I will pass it at least once each and every day on my way home from work!!!!

I just hope the we start getting the adds in our paper! Micheals advertises in the Milwaukee area, but not out where we live.

The ad doesn't "say" much, just "All sixxix dies." An alphabet set is pictured along with individual dies. It is a weekly sale.

Happy shopping!

Any other scrapbook supplies on sale at Michael's for next week? We live only about 5 miles from a Michaels, but they never send a circular in our paper.

Soccerchick: thanks for the info! Another quick question for you - I would like to by my daughter an alphabet set, she is 9. Would you have any recommendations on a good all-purpose style?

cindala: I certainly share your frustration on not receiving the circulars from Michaels. From time to time, I am able to get a coupon from a coworker if she isn't going to use hers - but that is always a pain and then I feel like I "owe" her something.

thanks!

Here's my take on the alphabets. I have 3 full sets and like them each for different reasons.

1) Shadow - these are really fun, it's like getting 2 sets in one, and you can make themed titles by cutting water words out of water paper, etc. It's a bigger letter and sometimes large titles don't fit well on even a 12 x 12 page.

2) Fun Serif - I like that you can do upper and lower with this set and I also like the look. It's also a larger letter and can sometimes be too big.

3) Lollipop - to me the best since it fits on most pages and you can use it alot without it looking all the same. The only drawback is it's uppercase only, but has not been a problem.

My daughter is 6 and she prefers the shadow, but seems to use the lollipop more since it fits her pages better. Hope this helps.

Is being released in the fall! Something to look forward to. YEAH!

OMG- I am going to try and not go CRAZY! I made my list of what I want and I shared it with my Mom (we share my Sizzix)- I hope to get at least 2-3 of the following:
Splat
Gingerbread Man
Tags
Apple
Ballons #2
Candy
Fish
Seashell #2
Multi Swirl
Pine Tree

To Tiger Fan - Thanks for taking the time to explain the alphabet sets. I'll probably go with the lollipop ones, however will do something different based on availability issues.

for 50% off. Machines, the pad refills, aplha sets and the individual dies.

Our store had a sale this past week (ending today.) But Sizzix weren't on sale. :( But I did have my 50% off coupon! :) I glanced at the Shadow alphabet set. But with the regular price at $250, even 50% didn't cut it. :( I did get a tree and the itty bitty kid with some clothes. :teeth:

The Michaels' in Milwaukee don't have these on sale this week. I really wanted to get my DD an alphabet set. Maybe next week...

SPLATT..oh well..

This isn't the first time we haven't had the same sale. I guess I will have to stop getting excited when I see other people's ads.

I wonder if it is because there is no Hobby Lobby or A.C. Moore nearby?

Hmmm.....Well...think of the money I am saving (lol).

Patti

They're not on sale here, either.

No Sale here either . Probably a good thing , since I am not suppose to be buying anything. :(

Major bummer---no sale here either. I am so sad! I was really planning on buying 3-4 dies. I may buy one with the coupon, but it's always really hard for me to choose one!

Sorry ladies!! :(

I didn't even think that there would be different sales for different regions. I was trying to be helpful. Live and learn. At least your checkbooks are heavier than mine now, I spent $50 today, all Sizzix.

Especially for doing something so nice! Alot of people were able to take advantage of the deal.

Michael's really should have the same ads I guess. I don't mind so much when the Canada sales are different, but the sales in this country...geesh!

Thanks for trying!

Patti

Don't feel bad soccerchick- who would know that Michael's would have different sales around the USA? I went anyway and got Splats! It was a hard choice, but it was fun nonetheless...next on my list- either pine tree or the gingerbread man!
