MiB gun lasers?

I have a question about the MIB gun lasers that maybe one of the techs can answer. Why don't they fire beams like the laser guns at all the laser tag places, and only show up with a red dot on what you shot at? I've had a hard time convincing friends that there actually was a laser that you were shooting. I was a bit skeptical myself until I shot the ground next to the car during the middle of my first ride. I think it would be a lot easier for people without experience to get higher scores (which = more :D) if there was a laser beam to give a more accurate representation of what they were shooting at. But I guess like everything else they had a reason for not including them.

Unfortunately, your friends were right.

The guns on Men In Black do not use a laser for scoring points.

The red dot you see is for targeting only. It is similar to a small laser pointer, but with a lot less power.

The guns use an invisible infared (sp?) beam similar to your TV remote control for scoring/targeting purposes. This is why it is much easier to hit targets farther away than the ones right in front of your car. The infared beam spreads out the farther from its source.

yeah, alot like the "cone" affect. In which the laser opens up like a cone.

I am curious whether or not if some idiot pointed this "laser" at your eyes or even more stupid at his own eyes, could it cause any damage?
I remember hearing that those little laser pointers were rumored to cause retina damage to people whose eyes were pointed at. Could this happen with the MIB "Laser" Guns?
HAVE FUN

You know, I imagine that the MIB ride developers had the same conversation:

"What if some guest pointed the laser at his own eye? Could that cause eye damage?"

during my last training session a Xylolpip pointed at one of his nine eyes and laughed. So i guess it had no effect.

Hey IOARules, what kind of score do you currently achieve.

Maybe you need to pay $5.00 per secrect and ask MIB999999.

MIB999999, if you don't remember to long ago I started a thread about your best MIB scores. Remember? :D

Well anyways my highest score is as good as you can get, 999,999. I've only done it 3 times in my 50+ rides (thankyou onsite FOTL access). My average score usually ranges from 650,000-850,000.

Hey IOArules, i remember the thread and i posted as well. I grant you that 999,999 is as good as you can do with one gun but if you happen to have an empty seat next to you it is possible to go higher. My best so far is 1,137,349.
999,999 on one and 137,350 on the other gun.

was out there today and the single rider did not open till after 12:00. Hit 999,999 four times today. also had a 264,000 game. I do not know why i go to extremes :D :bounce:
