miami sea aquarium picture

It is a legit facebook page for the seaquarium. They are using this picture as a promotion for their humane society fundraiser:

"..Save $7.50 off admission to Miami Seaquarium while making a donation to the Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet. It’s all possible, through the Dog Days of Summer promotion."

I don't know if it is an actual photo or has been photoshopped, either way it seems inappropriate.

I don't think the photo is photoshopped. The shadows look different but both are at slightly downward, "2 o'clock" angles. The dog's looks different because his head is turned toward the camera. And I think if you look closely you can see a slight reflection of the back half of the dog on the right side of the dolphin. If it's photoshopped, that's an impressive detail to include. :confused3

Those details are very easy to do with highlighting, color, special effects, etc.

Looks like a great advert for a good cause.

If you don't like it, don't go there.

ford family

Thanks Poohbear123 for backing me up on that one..thanks Sgt Mickey for checking that too.I am saddened to see more pictures like that .

WDWBarb..I totally agree at the shadows .And I agree with Woodkins, inappropriate for an aquarium that is usually supposed to care for animals to keep showing a lack of compassion and education with these types of pictures -even photoshopped.

And Ford Family..no I definitely don't like it and wont be going.I dont need to pay a place like that to do good.I can donate to the Humane society myself.By the way do I hear tax write of for the park with that "donation"? BTW I wonder how much will actually be going as a donation...

And Christiane..I totally agree with you 100% on everything you stated! Especially Jack Hannah..he absolutely shows that just because you work with animals doesn't mean that you always have their best interest at heart.Unfortunately some get jaded and their job of working with animals becomes a business.I know this first hand from people in the industry.

And Dax..I have read a lot of Juliannbabes posts..I have never found them to be nasty..just educational. What is wrong with showing another side?Yes this is a vacation board but maybe some of us go to Disney and not SW.What is wrong with us getting educated and maybe saying you know what,I now have looked into it and have decided that I will not support SW or Discovery Cove.I mean, you may not like Hyatt and I may love it-but by saying that my opinion is that Hyatt is the best ..does that mean I should get thrown off if I post an opinion on a hotel that others may or may not have?
The people that have found her posts nasty may be reading more into them than what was intended.Sorry if what was said spoiled your fun at these parks..I guess ignorance is bliss.. :flower3: Not for me though...by the way, that isn't meant to be nasty at all.I am just saying that maybe those that were offended don't want to be told the truth or even question things. It would take away from their Seaworld,Miami Seaquarium ,DC experience...sad though that some get such pleasure from watching captive animals under our control, jump through a hoop on our whim or flapping their tail at us.. :-(

you are kidding me - that picture has left me speechless. they both can't be photoshopped - even if one is real - it is outrageous.
we are in 2010 - aren't people meant to be a more educated when it comes to this sort of thing????

how hard is it to keep a captive dolphin in water??

The Dolphins are not out of the water long. And I have never seen a dog at Seaquarium aside from a few guide dogs. They do come out of the water during the show but it is very brief.

a dolphin should always have it weight supported in water. when you put it on concrete like that - no matter how long it bruises the underneath.

it like a pet dog:

this place has to go: NOW.

Public outcry & lack of attendance is the only way to close these places down. My children have never been to an aquarium like this. Unfortunately I went to them as a child before my parents knew better. But even as a 5 or 6 year old I felt it was very wrong to have these beautiful marine mammals on display doing unnatural behaviours.

We do not go to zoos, circuses or anywhere else animals are on display just for the sake of entertainment. I can never understand how people who say they love animals will pay to see them in such environments. And people like Jack Hanna who parade frightened animals on TV make me crazy!

yep lack of attendance will stop this sort of thing going on.

supply and demand thats all it is.

Glad you have a cause but it seems pretty futile.

The OP is going out of her way to be offensive. This will only make people who might have been open to her cause annoyed, and ultimately not give a hoot for her cause.

That grey material isn't concrete. It looks like a smooth liner over a wood deck. I see no concrete in that picture. :confused3

we had a whole discussion about that seaquarium here before.
I agree with you.
but i have to ask, where did you say you got the picture?
it almost looks photo shopped to me.
why is the dog there?
It HAS to be. The length and direction of the shadows (and direction of the light) aren't even close to being the same!

And as for the "ban me please"... martydom. Pure and simple.

Since there has been nothing productive (or constructive) posted recently, it's time to close this one.

Thanks for participating.
