Hello,
What do you do after the cruise in Miami when you don’t have to be at Miami International until 4? Are there any places we could drop our bags? Any hotels with day passes like in Vancouver? I was thinking we rent a car for the day and self guide our way to a few picture spots. Has anyone done that and regretted it or loved it?

What’s a family of 4 to do for 6-8 hours in Miami?

Thanks!

Last year when we got off the Magic in Miami we rented a car and went to the Miami zoo. It took us about 3 hours to walk the whole place and see all the animals. It was a relaxing way to spend the extra time and it could be as short or as long as you want it to take. of course we also went in march so the temperature was actually nice instead of hot.

We took advantage of on board check in and took Disney transfers to the airport then took mass transit back to Bayside shops. From there we caught the hop on hop off bus and spent some time checking out south beach. Then we took the city part of the tour and went through the cuban areas and some other spots. It was a lot of fun. We took mass transport back to the airport around 4-5 (our plane was later that evening.) I think there may be an excursion that does exactly the same thing that you can sign up for on the ship. The company that does the tour (Big Bus I think) will store your luggage for you. There are many stops you can get off during the tour. Just google the tour and see if any stops would interest you and your family.

We rented a car and drove to the Everglades National Park and did an airboat ride which we all enjoyed. The place we went to also did an alligator show and had a walking trail with exhibits.

You may want to take a look on Groupon to give you some ideas of things to do in the area and get some discounts.

Have a great trip.

Did this just yesterday when getting off the Magic. Took a shuttle to FLL and rented a car for 7 hours to drive to Ft Lauderdale beach. Was very nice and relaxing but the kids were so sleepy they couldn't enjoy the beach.

Another vote for the Miami Zoo. Assuming it's not 100 degrees and just as humid. They have these really neat family bikes you can rent and ride around the zoo on (it's very flat!). We've been to several zoos across the country (including San Diego) and I feel like the Miami zoo ranks near the top!
