Can anyone recommend a good Miami hotel. On the beach would be good. I know there are different areas and I don't know which area so any recommendations would be good.

(if anyone also has a recommendation for Marco Island/Naples too that would be good).

Naple's we loved the Quality Inn Gulf Coast, it was a small, peaceful hotel, clean and good food. :)

Miami, we stayed in a hotel which Virgin have now parted company with because it was horrendous, this was the Monaco Inn (name says it all) so avoid this hotel. :)

Thanks Beth, hotels to avoid are also good to know.

South Beach- bright, lively, very trendy, where all the Art Deco buildings are, lots of nightlife so not for you if you want a good night's sleep.

Miami Beach- still lively, but not at the centre of things and good access to South Beach. Nice beach, which, as with most of Miami, is full of Beautiful People skating, sunbathing, jogging etc.

All good fun.

Virgin do the Wyndham on Miami Beach which is nice.

South Beach is also good for nice, boutique-y type hotels, as well as hyper-trendy celebrity magnets like the Delano (all the rooms are decorated in white, white and more white!).

It's great for eating out and nightlife, and there's a shuttle bus which runs up and down South Beach all day, for something like 25c each way. Most tour companies will include car hire, but beware of the cost of parking, as in any big city. Most hotels charge for parking, and it can mount up.

I would recommend South Beach's Art Deco district. There's a nice beach, loads of good restaurants and cafes along Ocean Drive, great shopping and the architecture is fantastic to check out.

I've stayed at the following hotels in that area. The Richmond, Avalon Majestic, Doubletree surfcomber and Riande continental. Of those my favourite was the Richmond. Depending on your budget other hotels worth looking at are Loews (stunning), Tides and the Delano. I've always used http://www.hotwire.com to book the hotels and taken my chances with what I get. This may not be suitable if you're a group of more than 2 because, unusually for the USA, some of the hotels in Southbeach are "boutique" hotels and their rooms only sleep 2 people (one double bed). I've got some fantastic deals on hotwire, but you don't know the actual hotel until after you commit to accepting the room rate they are offering. Obviously that could make for a problem if you get a room with only one bed if there are more than 2 of you.

Here's a link to some info on Southbeach area hotels etc http://www.southbeach.com

Here's a link to another fun thing in Miami http://www.venetianpool.com

Thanks again Nemo.

Thanks Vernon I knew you would be along to offer advice too:wave2:
