Miami Hotel

Hi,

Can anyone recommended a fairly budget hotel in Miami?
We are landing at 4.55pm and hope to get to pick up our hire car between 6.30pm and 7pm. We need a cheap but clean hotel to spend the night. We are driving to Vero Beach the next day.

We stayed overnight (before driving to the Keys) at the Wyndham Miami Airport. As the name suggests, it's not far from the airport and on the outskirts rather than in Miami itself.

I wouldn't say it was fantastic, but it was definitely fine for the night and there was a really good buffet breakfast! We had a room overlooking the river and golf course at the back of the hotel so it felt quite peaceful and we could see the city and planes coming and going in the distance.

If you check on Expedia or TripAdvisor you will find that a lot of the hotels in the Airport vacinity are very good value for money, much more so than the hotels on the beach.

We are staying at the Marriott Villas At Doral next August for 3 nights, probably not really classed as budget but we wanted cooking facilities but would be much more expensive if for example it was on South Beach.

Who's you car hire with ? it might be better to pick it up on South Beach.

Did you know if you pick your car up on South Beach you don't have to pay the airport tax

We stayed at the National Hotel and just phoned Dollar and they picked us up.
