We have a Disney transfer from our hotel tomorrow to the port in Miami. Is this like WDW where they stop at multiple hotels before heading out? We are trying to determine if we should just get a private transfer since we have the earliest PAT. Thanks!

I’m using the transfers in Miami for the first time in May. While I was in Galveston we had a 90 minute wait for what looked to be a 20ish person travel bus but it had been destroyed by drunk’s? Handles broken, trim removed or missing, but it was very clean. Just not what I think Disney would approve as transportation.
Looking to hear what to do when I get off the plane. Where do we go? How long is the ride? Do they have my name or do I need a ticket?

The transfer buses in Miami are nice, fresh and clean. You go to the baggage claim area of the airport, and meet one of the multiple DCL reps in the baggage claim area who are wearing a uniform & holding up a Mickey paddle. They have your name- no ticket needed. The bus ride is 20-30 minutes once you board the bus.

I don’t know the answer but I’ll be on the DCL bus at from the hyatt to port miami, so if you are at the same hotel, see you there :)

We just boarded our hotel to port transfer in Miami and it is not a bus, it is a limo!!! Very fancy!3A2971FB-BBF7-44F0-A1C6-066CCE43BAB3.jpeg

anyone knows what time the transfers start? I fly in the night before, stay at the Miami airport hotel (booked privately) so basically I can go to baggage claim as soon as they start running.

Around 10, I think.
So if I get in at 9:15 should I roam the baggage area looking for someone. Update below:

I just got off the phone with Disney yesterday and asked what I would be doing. I was told in Miami I would find person with Disney apparel and possibly a Mickey hand at terminal D near carousel 25. And if I were near terminal J it would be carousel 3.

I’m thinking I’m not going to get this kind of luxury! Lol. But a girl can dream!!!❤️
I think I'm the only person in the world who has ridden in a limo once and said NEVER AGAIN. So uncomfortable - and super awkward getting in and out of. Give me a plain jane car or bus any day.

We took DCL transfers in Miami from the EB hotel on April 7th. I booked the hotel on my own with points and not through DCL so I when I checked in I did not get the info letter (didn't think to ask) but I did ask when the DCL rep would be in the lobby as I never received luggage tags and wanted to see if they would have them. I was told she would be there at 7:30 am.....um nope not there but I was! I believe the hotel employee was incorrect. I was told by another person staying at the hotel that their letter said to be in the lobby by 9:45 am. The DCL rep arrived around that same time.

She had luggage tags for our bags. While chatting she said some days they stop at another hotel and some days they don't. We didn't. We had 22 people on the bus. She said it all depends on how people from each hotel are doing transfers.

Since we didn't get the letter I totally forgot they come get your luggage and when someone knocked on our door we couldn't figure out who would want us....of course it was the guy picking up luggage but we were not ready. We apologized and he said no problem he would be back in 20 minutes. The luggage gets piled up by the front door of the hotel (inside) and I believe the bus driver loaded the bus with luggage. Once we got the luggage tags from the DCL rep we attached them to our bags so you will have access to them before they are loaded on the bus.

The drive took about 20 minutes and we arrived to the port at about 10:40 and were ushered right in once we claimed our bags from the bus and turned them over to the porter. All you had to do was point to your bag and make sure it was there. the porters took it from there. They expect tips.

You go through security first, then testing, then are directed upstairs to wait. We only waited about 20 minutes so I really don't know if they did a PCR or antigen or it was quick because we were there early.

Once we got the clear to go to the ship we were told to wait in another area until they called boarding numbers. We had boarding group 2. They picked a family of the day and announced them. I believe it was Concierge, then family of the Day and then Boarding Group 2. They didn't start boarding until 12:00.

Hope this helps!!

I just have a quick question. We’re staying at an airport hotel and also doing a Disney transfer from the Miami airport. So, we don’t get a set time to be there - we just go whenever we want in the morning? Lol. Thank you!

We used DCL transfers from the EBHotel back in April. The DCL rep met us in the lobby. We asked if we were stopping at other hotels and she said each cruise is different. If there are enough guests at one hotel to fill a bus it will only stop at that hotel. She said sometimes one bus will pick up at other hotels sometimes not. Sometimes they just use a van. We had a full bus (Academy) and did not stop anywhere else.

She also had luggage tags in case you did not get them in the mail beforehand.

What hotels does Disney use in Miami!
I thought they used more than one hotel in Miami (they did in the past) but only the EB Hotel is showing currently at the DCL site. Call to be sure.

From the DCL site:

  • Sailing from Miami to The Bahamas or the Caribbean

Guests embarking on a Disney cruise traveling to The Bahamas or the Caribbean from Miami will fly into the Miami International Airport (MIA). The ship departs from PortMiami. Travel time from the airport to the port is 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
    Air/Ground Transportation & Accommodations
You may add air travel, ground transportation or a hotel stay by calling (800) 951-3532. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.
    Airport Transfers
Ground transfers from Miami International Airport to PortMiami are available for purchase. Airport transfers are available on embarkation and debarkation days only, for $21 per Guest. We recommend calling (800) 951-3532 to add ground transfers in advance, as only a limited number may be available for purchase upon arrival. Please be prepared to provide your inbound and outbound flight details. Private transportation options are also available.
Upon arrival at Miami International Airport, go directly to Baggage Claim where you will pick up your luggage. A Disney Cruise Line representative will be available outside the Baggage Claim area to direct you to your designated transportation. Transportation may include a motor coach, minibus or taxi, depending on arrival time and party size.
    Luggage Tags
You’ll receive Disney Cruise Line luggage tags in your document package. Whether you book air travel through Disney Cruise Line or on your own, remember to attach the luggage tags to your checked bags. The tags will help you identify your bags at the airport and are needed so we can deliver your bags directly to your stateroom once you drop them off at the port.
Please ensure that your luggage does not contain any prohibited items and that any alcoholic beverages are in a carry-on bag when you arrive at the port. Alcohol packed in a checked bag transported onboard by Disney Cruise Line will be removed and discarded.

The EB Hotel Miami is not within walking distance from the Miami Airport, but does provide complimentary transportation to and from the airport upon request. According to the DCL site for Miami, there are still three hotels.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ports/miami-florida/

I think the warning about EB has been there for a while. It's also in the EB hotel's description on the page linked above. Maybe some guests tried to walk to the three miles to the hotel? I can't imagine wanting to do that with luggage, though. Or, maybe it's because Disney doesn't provide a transfer to that hotel, instead relying on the hotel's shuttle service.

Last time I inquired, the EB transfers were cheaper than the other two to account for Disney not brining you to the hotel.

Thank you all. Unfortunately, they are all booked before the EB Transatlantic next year. ☹️ We booked at the Courtyard by Marriott at the Airport.

Are they sold out through Disney? Or sold out completely? I booked the EB Hotel on my own using points in April and was able to still book transfers to the port. I asked DCL if it would be a problem and they said no. Definitely keep trying.

Also, I have stayed at the Courtyard Marriot twice this year...once in January and once earlier this month. Nice pool, clean rooms. Was fine for a one night pre stay. There is a nice Latin restaurant with pretty good food a few block away called Latin Cafe on LeJuene. We had breakfast and dinner there and ate outside. The onsite hotel restaurant is Ok, not great. Its a sports bar. The hotel shares the pool with the Marriott Residence Inn and there is a better restaurant at the MRI.

I think this is a bit of a training issue with the CMs. I was told no on one Miami trip, yes on a different Miami trip, and yes on a Vancouver trip.
