Kicking around the idea of taking a four night cruise, from Miami, at the end of January 2021.
What recommendations does everyone have on where to stay? Also, transportation to and from the Port? (Have only cruised three times from Orlando, and used Disney transportation and the MCO Hyatt).
Will have three adults and one child.
Not sure if flying into Miami or Fort Lauderdale would be better.
Yes, I tried looking at past posts.

Thank you.

Flights:
Miami is closer. FLL is cheaper.
We’ve done both.

Hotel and transport:
FLL: We used Jiffy Jeff from the FLL Springhill Suites to port (taxi from airport to hotel).
MIA: We stayed at the Miami Airport North Comfort Suites. Free shuttle from airport to hotel and from hotel to port.

If we sailed out of Miami again, I would decide based on the total price.

We fly Southwest generally so it's always into Ft. Lauderdale. And honestly, it's probably just as easy to fly into as the Miami airport. It's just preference.

On our last sailing, we flew into FLL the day before, stayed at the Home2Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport & Cruise Port (LOVE these hotels) and just took an Uber to the Miami port the next morning. I believe it was $30-$40? Also, I always hear really good things about the Embassy Suites 17th Street in FLL as well.

I don't think it matters much whether you stay in FLL or Miami. Like the previous poster stated, I also just go by overall price and what time our flight gets in.

Stay anywhere you want in FLL or MIA, depending on your budget. The more money you have to spend on the hotel the closer you will get to stay to the port.

Uber and Lyft have been our mode of transportation for 2 adults and 2 children.

The EB hotel was very nice. It was an upscale park and cruise hotel that has a shuttle to the port. DCL will also pick u up from the hotel.

Whether FLL or MIA is a better destination airport choice may depend on where you’re flying in from. For us, flying from Chicago, the availability of American Airlines flight ORD to MIA every hour or 90 minutes makes them preferable to the more limited availability of Southwest flights MDW to FLL, both in terms of fares and timing. Even after paying to check bags, AA flights to MIA have usually been cheaper than SWA flights to FLL. OP’s situation may depend on the origination airport.

For us, flying into MIA was better. We fly Delta from MSP. The flights were more convenient and cheaper. We stayed at Hyatt Place East by the airport and took Uber XL ($30) the next morning.

I'm doing a cruise out of Miami in December and will fly into MIA since Delta is my carrier. We have a free night certificate with Hilton so will stay at the Conrad. That said, there are so many hotels in Miami it's hard to narrow them down unless you have a loyalty program that lends itself to free. If we went again, I'd likely stay at one of the Hyatt properties with points.
