Miami car rental at port Vs. Car company

We are flying into and staying in FLL before and after our Miami cruise. We want the ability to travel around while we are in FLL (I need some Joe’s Stone Crab) and thought renting a car would be great. I’ve never driven to this port though.
How close are the car rental kiosks? Do they have shuttles that then take you to port? Do the shuttles drop you off where the limos/ buses do? Would it just be easier to get a car service to port?

I rented a vehicle I believe it was from budget. We dropped it off in the morning and they shuttled us over to the terminal.

Thanks for the info! Do you remember how close to the port entrance the shuttle can drop you? I have 3 kids and luggage to contend with. Not that it would be a huge deal to walk, but if I can make anything easier on myself I will
