For those who have been to MGM with a 2 year old, how much time did you spend in the park? What attractions did your child like? I'm trying to decide if we should go there or not.
My girls LOVE MGM. They are 4 and 3 now, but have been going since they were just months old.
The love Playhouse Disney, The little Mermaid show, Beauty and the Beast, they both loved Fantasmic last summer. They think the Great movie ride is a lot of fun too.
We usually go to MGM early..like when it opens(unless we are going to Fantasmic), stay until lunch time..go back to the resort for a while, then go to another park at night.
we just took our almost 3 yr old nephew and he loved Playhouse Disney &, Voyage of LM. Then we went into animators area where they had the incredibles characters and some others for photo opps. They had neat computer games about animation and coloring in there too. (he loved those)
The motor cars stunt show might be good too since it has herbie in it.
We went to MGM when my son was almost three. We had a wonderful time although, we did not stay for a whole day. My son loved "Voyage...mermaid" Muppets 3-D, Playtime Disney...etc. We did not do Fantasmic or Indiana Jones as we felt it would be too intense for him. HTH!
I agree, we had a blast at MGM with our just two year old in March. She loved Beauty and the Beast, Playhouse Disney, and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area. We didn't see Voyage of the LM, I thought it might scare her but we're going to try in October.
I'm really looking forward to catching the Stars and Cars motor parade and we've got reservations for breakfast at Hollywood and Vine for the JoJo and Little Einsteins breakfast.
Don't forget to visit JoJo and Goliath and their new neighbors Quincey and Annie at their trailers.
DD does not watch any of the Playhouse Disney shows, so we didn't take her to Playhouse Disney. However, she enjoyed Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Muppets 3D, and especially, Fantasmic. She loves Mickey. She was 3 the first time she went.
Oh, I forgot to add that we usually don't spend an entire day in MGM. We usually do AK in the morning, then MGM and Fantasmic in the afternoon/evening.
My kids have loved MGM from the time they were babies!
It is our favorite park and we always spend two days there!
we usually get there early - spend the morning seeing playhouse Disney, little mermaid and the great movie ride - we usually see Playhouse Disney twice b/c my kids LOVE it!
have lunch - usually at the commissary - spend some time visiting with the characters, Muppets 3-D movie, backlot tour and the New Stunt show - and the Honey I shrunk the kids play area - then we get a good spot for the afternoon parade and my kids usually fall asleep until the parade starts or now that my older one is 4 - she likes to just sit and people watch with me and have fudge. Then we go see Beauty and the beast and have dinner and head into Fantasmic
My son was 2 when we went last year and loved it especially the playhouse disney, beauty and the beast, the little mermaid, muppets 3d, all the characters, he adored them. He also enjoyed the stunt show, but he is fascinated with cars!!
Just a cautionary note: Last year we took our just turned three year-old to MGM. Voyage of Little Mermaid was one of the first things we did. It absolutely terrified her, and she would not go into a darkened theater for the rest of the trip anywhere at WDW. (Just imagine for a minute how that limited our options!)
Our 3 boys at the 2 to 4 age really enjoyed playhouse disney, little mermaid and most of all the mumpets!! Also, the parade is vey nice and we always hit that too. The fireworks was not for little ones too scarry!!!
Just keep in mind that most of the things at MGM are shows at certain times. It is best to go in the morning and stay after lunch for as long as you can because most of the shows don't run into the evening. We never got to see B&B because it was on the other side of the park and we were there 2 evenings when the last show was at 6:30pm. Even with an early dinner seating, we couldn't get there in time. The good thing is that if you time it right, the kids will love it there and mine could've spent the whole day in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground.
