MGM to MK - transportation

We are going to MGM in the day and then over to MK for fireworks- any suggestions in parking? First time back to Disney in a very long time, so unfamiliar with getting around. We are staying outside the parks and will have a rental car. Thanks.

Since you have a rental car I think when you're ready to leave MGM just hop in the car and park at MK so it's there when you're tired and done for the evening! Then you won't have to ride on buses to get you back to your car at the end of the night.That could add another hour on until you got back to your rooms.

Another thought might be to drive to where you end the day, MK, and take a bus to MGM from there, and a bus back to MK at night. I've done that concept before and it has worked for me.
