I have yet another annoying question about crowd levels. We will be at the world from nov 10- 17th. Sunday is the end of super soap weekend at MGM and is also EMH night. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts of criwd level that night. At first our plan was to just avoid MGM altogether on the weekend but to work MGM into the plan twice it would end up being Sunday night. Am I crazy for thinking about attempting MGM on that night?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris. :confused3

We'll be there at the same time, wondering about crowds too. Was advised by my TA that the crowds WILL be heavy but they are for the soap stars, supposedly this means that it's easier to get on the rides during this time. I wonder about the EMH though, will the soapsters leave when the stars do or bombard the rides then?? Also, the Osborne lights start the next night, wonder if it'll be a zoo?

Most of the people there for SSW are there for the SSW events. Doesn't mean other non-SSW attractions will be "walk on" but because of EMH, more folks will come into the park as the regular closing time approches. So I suspect the soap fans that leave when SSW is over will be replaced by the other people coming into MGM for EMH.

Well we were there last year for super soap and I have the schedule for this year. There is a Grand Motorcade up hollywood blvd. with soap starts at 7:15pm. Then there is a Street Jam concert on a stage in front of mickey's hat. Last year this started about 8pm and lasted for roughly 2 hours. We left at just about 2 hours and missed the ending finale with the fireworks and all. So all the soap fans will be spending the evening at this concert. I must say that I am surprised that they are still having the EMH that evening with all the super soap crowds.

As far as during the daytime at super soap............. I have always heard what everyone says about the crowds all being there for the soap stars and not the rides but even so I would not subject my family to it!! (Just MHO!!) My DD and I went for the soap stars and we had to wait in line to use the restrooms for a VERY long time. We also were in a line BEFORE the lunch places opened and yes there were lines even before the places opened!! Just alot of crowds everywhere and I wouldn't have wanted to fight the crowds trying to get around the park if I weren't there for the soap stars! Now maybe if that is the only day you have for MGM and no other choice but if I could avoid it I would!
One other thing about going to the park on the morning of super soap. We left Pop for MGM and it took HOUR and a HALF!! to get there!! We had to wait for a bus and were able to get on the 3rd one that came (standing of course!) And then we hit all the traffic trying to get into MGM and we sat at a red light trying to enter MGM for honestly a good 15-20 minutes at one red light! There was a lady on the bus with a crying baby and I felt so bad for her. It was 45 minutes actually ON the bus from Pop to MGM. I have never seen so much traffic. I kept thinking we could have walked there much faster then driving! And we were so dumb we thought we were going early enough to beat the crowds! :rotfl2:

LisaRay, what time did you leave POP to go to MGM? It sounds like it may be wise to head over there a little later than park opening. This will be my first time at SSW, sounds like it will be an experience.

We got to the bus stop around 7:30am. The park opened at 9 so we thought we were getting there nice and early. Turns out that as we were exiting the bus and walking toward the entrance it was 9 and the park was opening at that time!!
We were not too happy!! :smooth:

Disneyforlife: good question! I, 2, am going to the SSW and am staying just off site ( 2 miles ) and am curious when to leave for park tho at least i won't have to wait for the buses.

this sounds like a very busyyyyy event with crowds and all. hope the weather is good!

I am not interested in fastpasses for autographs so I think getting there around 10-10:30 may be a better plan for us. I am prepared for the crowds inside but never even thought of the mad rush to get there first thing. Thank you LisaRay for bringing this up. :worship:

DisneyForLife........... My daughter's plan to avoid those crowds this year is to get there at the CRACK of dawn!!
Does anyone have any idea how early they will allow you to enter the parking lot? I know I am going to need a nap by 1pm but I am sure she won't "allow" it!!

LIsaRay: since you have "experience" with SSW what other tidbits can you give. I am not particularly interested in autographs as I already have GV and SB from GHospital.. what events do you put on the don't miss list? IS one ever close enough to see much with the crowds and all?

I am very excited as I have said, I have been to meet and greets with Steve Burton and Greg Vaughan and attended a Soap event in Las Vegas which was very informal but didn't have a lot of people that I was really that interested in meeting other than Rick Hearst from GH, so I can't wait til this event.

How old is your daughter? by the way. I'm with her.. get there early early! ( and need a nap by noon probably )

any info you have will be appreciated. The jam thingy in the evening sounds fun!
