I have a park map fom last year for MGM and it looks like there are only about 16 or 17 rides/attractions. We have never been to MGM and was wondering if it would be possible to do all of the rides/attractions/parade in one day (minus TOT, rock n roller coaster, millionaire). There will be me and DS5 and DD8. We will be sure to make sure to arrive at opening but since we will be at WDW in January, the hours will probably be shorter.

Our time is tight in Disney (one week) and we want to do MK (2 or 3 days), Epcot (2 days), and MGM, kids pirate cruise, plus one or two days "quiet no park days" .

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I say no! MGM is 2 days but some others might say you can do it all in one day. Depends what your pace is, do you have long relaxing lunches or stop for snacks, do the kids need a break or quiet time etc.... It all depends. If you're staying for a week, don't sweat it. Do what you want and if you don't get it all in go back for a morning or late afternoon to finish up what you missed. You'll still have plenty R&R time!

The tricky thing about MGM is the show times - Beauty and the Beast, Playhouse Disney, Indiana Jones, and the new stunt show have specific times. Our first trip (during Spring Break - huge crowds) we couldn't see everything at MGM. We were just there in July and it wasn't a problem to hit the things we missed the first trip and still do a few other favorites. But honestly, if you try to see all the shows and do all the other attractions, one day might not be enough.

I usually get everything at MGM done in one day BUT I don't go on ToT, RnR, Indiana Jones, Star Tours....so I think its usually safe to set aside at least two days for each park, or at the very least, if you have a hopper option, to set aside one day to do the extra stuff in the parks that you didn't have time the first day. This is what we're planning on doing, so we'll let you know how it works out ;)

I have been able to do MGM in one day every time I have went. I typically go back for a second day just because I like the park. The only thing that could really make it hard is Fantasmic. If it was during the busy season (which it sounds like it will not be) you would be in line for a long time to make sure you get a good seat. I have done everything at MGM except for Sounds Dangerous and Millionaire. Most of it I can do at least twice in the same day. It can be done very easily.

We were able to do it in one day, but we had two small children, so they were not up to riding the thrill rides, although DH rode both ToT and RnR. We were able to do most of everything that we wanted without a problem in one day. Even if the hours are shorter in January, you will still have fewer people there, so shorter lines, which will help. I agree with the earlier posts that the show schedules are what make this park hard to do in one day. But if you are going to get there at park opening, you should be fine. Just pick up a Times Guide right when you get there and map out your plan based on the show times.

Have a great trip!! :earsboy:

A week is plenty of time, but if you want to do mainly shows at MGM you may need to do a couple of days. A good strategy might be to do two afternoons there as most of the shows don't start up until later. Two afternoons would allow you to see the shows and do the rides you want, plus catch Fantasmic one night. (If you don't want to wait more than 30-45 minutes for Fantasmic, check into the Fantasmic Dinner Package. You have a lovely sit-down or buffet dinner then get entrance from backstage to a reserved seating area. We've done it several times.)

I notice on your list you do not have any visits to AK. I know it's not everyone's favorite park, but a LOT of people who don't think they'll like it end up falling in love with it when they visit. I'll admit I'm biased as it's my favorite, but you should at least give it a try since you're here for a week. I'd suggest using one of your MGM afternoon days to hit AK in the morning.

It depends on a few factors:

a). Attractions you don't want to experience
b). crowd levels
c). show times
d). repeat attractions

It is physically possible to see everything in one day, but you have to factor in the above to see if it is possible. If you are indeed skipping TOT, rock n roller coaster, & millionaire then it is very possible since you're skipping the two attractions with the most demand (Tower & Coaster).
