I have heard the rumor that MGM is going to take out the I. Jones stunt show because they have the new stunt show. However, i heard before they do this Disney wants to put a new E ticket ride in MGM to handle the crowds, since Jones holds a lot of guests. I would guess the ride would have to do with Narnia, Muppets, or Harry Potter- Disney owns that right? Anyways this rumor seems possible, i just dont know where they would put the new ride.

If the seach button works for you search for this rumor for a little bit... if it doesn't try using the rumors board and going back 3 or 4 pages... you'll find TONS of posts concerning the MGM rumor. Many people of different opinons. It will take you a while to seach through them all. hahah. So have fun ;)

Yup. This rumor surfaces once in a while. Most recently was when they decided to put the Lights, Motors, Action show into MGM. Another version of the rumor says that they're going to replace the stunt show with the Indiana Jones ride from Disneyland.

I imagine that if they ever do get rid of the stunt show, we're all going to be surprised since the rumor has been around for so long.

We were there last week. I didn't see the Lights, Motors, Action show so don't know how popular it is, but they were only accepting fastpasses 30 minutes before Indy was due to start. This thing still draws huge crowds

Last time I went was the first time I had been to Indy in a few years. I was shocked to see it was exactly as I remembered it. Almost no changes, even little ones, what-so-ever. It does draw crowds and is a good show. Perhaps an update is all it needs.

The Indy ride is a big hit in California from what I hear, so I really hope it gets transported to MGM. Perhaps there is room for both. After all, I do think there will be a new Indiana Jones movie sometime next year, so people would truly be ready for lots of Indy

I love The Indiana Jones Adventure in California, but I honestly don't think they'll bring it to Florida. It's basically the same ride as Dinosaur. It even uses the same track layout (as does Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull in Tokyo).

The "same ride" is OK for something like Dumbo/Flying Carpets, but not for an E-ticket ride.

It seems unlikely now that they'll remove it, given that the new Indiana Jones movie is expected to be released in 2007. Whether they'll update the show to include new scenes is another question... Disney has not been very enthusiastic about updating their WDW attractions to tie in with current and upcoming movies (Star Tours, for instance).
Another issue regarding Indy may be that Steven Spielberg and the Walt Disney Company are not necessarily on the best of terms, and he probably has some say in what the company can or cannot do with Indy IV.

Yes, but Lassetter will be head of Imagineering by next year, and one of his key points in taking that position was saying he wanted the parks to have more tie-ins with current movies.

And I believe that George Lucas holds the rights to Indy, not Spielberg.

George Lucas does hold the rights to Indy as he produced and created it. Speilberg was the director.

And the two are close personal friends, as, I believe, are Spielberg and Katzenberg, which creates at least the potential for a conflict of interests. It is quite possible (and IMHO desirable) that the fresh faces in the company will be able to bridge these old divides - let's hope for the best.

They may be friends but that has not stopped Disney from adding Indy attractions to various parks even since Spielberg went the Dreamworks route. I would think they would be able to add an Indy ride to WDW if they decided they wanted to do it.

Also there is a clear relationship between Disney and Lucas, which is much more important when we discuss this topic, since, as we already mentioned, Lucas is holder of the creative rights. MGM still does Star Wars Weekends and the Indy ride in DL, so it should not be too hard for Iger to erase whatever damage Eisner may have done to that relationship.

As far as I can figure, if Disney wants to spend money on advertising Lucas films, why would George gave a problem with that! If Indiana Jones is going to be back in the American conscience, then Disney can help speed that process

This rumor resurfaces regularly. The rest of this note is something that I posted the last time this rumor came up.

If the Indy stunt show starts playing to largely empty houses, Disney will develop a new show for the current Indy stunt show venue.

The venue is a huge, valuable theater worth tens of millions of dollars.

It is not logical (from a business standpoint) to say that because the location now has an Indy show, it must remain an Indy location and will therefore become an Indy ride.

It is much more logical (from a business standpoint) to say that the valuable theater may someday house a new show, which would probably have nothing to do with Indiana Jones.

does anyone thing it is possible that Lights motor Action show will move to the indy stage and their old area would be a show? I think Indy is larger?

Extremely unlikely, IMHO.

LMAX is much larger than Indy. There is no way that the Indy theater could hold LMAX.

We've skipped Indy a few times in the past years. Now my ds5 has discovered and loved all the movies. We had to take him and he absolutely loved it. We went to see the lights, action thing in August. Climbed the 1000+ steps in 95 degree heat. DYING I tell you :guilty: Only one bottle of water between 3 of us and no vendors in the area. ACK. They did part of one stunt. Black clouds rolled in with lightening in the distance. They postponed the show for about 15 minutes while we sat inside a lightening rod--sweating. We should have moved, but we were all having trouble breathing from the climb. Then they shut down the show and cleared out the place. They're trying to rush people who just caught their breath. There were seniors and many people with little ones who they had to carry. I know it's a safety thing, but we were rush up and then back out.

Really dampened our desire to even bother seeing it again.

We saw LMA during a downpour (no lightening) and were surprised that they went on with the show. I don't know what the surface is out there, but you'd think that rain would really reek havoc on all of their precision skidding around--but it went off without a hitch.

I saw LMA last year when it rained... Not hard rain... but they did announce that if the weather would get worse, they would cancel the show... As for the stairs, MAN there are a lot of them... Glad I didn't have to climb many at all, sat near the front row.... I liked the show, just hated the theater shape... If I had a choice, I would see it again, if I didn't have to climb all the way to the top.. As for Indy, I was not impressed with the show at all, so if it is removed then so be it... Like Tarzan Rocks, I would not miss it...

However, do not look for that area to contain a new attraction... I think there is a better chance of Sounds Dangerous and the buildings attached to that attraction to be the next spot for a brand new attraction, even Great Movie Ride being gutted and something new going in there before Indy goes away for an attraction.
