I am trying to decide on which restaurant at the mgm to make ADR for as we will be there in May?

Prime Time a regular stop for our family....
Brown Derby is also great.... a little more $$$$ & 2 credits on the dining plan

We go to 50's PT every trip. We are also trying Sci-Fi for the first time (since '94) in July. :)

Burgers, fries and adult shakes at Sci Fi is a great experience!

I do look forward to the elegance of the Brown Derby though!

I used to love 50's Prime Time, but had a poor experience there last time.

The best thing to do is to look at the menus and think about the atmosphere and decide based on those two factors. They're all very different and everyone's tastes are different. A gourmet food critic might not enjoy Sci Fi and someone who likes a quiet dining experience might not enjoy Prime Time, and a picky eater might not enjoy the Brown Derby, KWIM?

50s Prime Time is one of our family's favorites.

Brown Derby is the best.
50's PT is fun and good food.
Sci Fi is a lot of fun....stick with the burgers and fries though, the other things we have had there were all terrible.

sci-fi is the best for burgers, fries & shakes (we love the dark, drive-in atmosphere and those movie trailers)

50s is where we go for the "comfort foods": DH always gets the pot roast, for me it's the chicken noodle soup

brown derby is my favorite for the cobb salad and grapefruit cake!

I have only eaten at 50s Prime Time Cafe and the Brown Derby. I would definetly go back to 50s Prime Time but my boyfriend and I did not feel the need to go back to the Brown Derby. Not worth the 4TS we used there. It wasn't bad, but just wasn't what I thought "Signature Dining" should be.

I think at this point, I'd call Dining and ask whats available. :lmao:

50's PT would be my first choice. Very down home cooking.

We had a yummy lunch at 50's PTC in January. The meals we ordered were Pot Roast, Chicken Pot Pie, Meat Loaf, Stacked Sandwich, and my son had the mac-n-cheese. Then we all split the Angel Food Cake with Berries which was to die for!! The meals were wonderful, we all were members of the "clean plate" club! Very fun atmosphere!

The only restaurant that we have eaten at is Sci-Fi Dine In. We would like to try some of the other restaurants when we go back...

If you are going this May, you may not have alot of choices calling this late. I'd call ASAP. The last two Mays I've seen people turned away at 50's Prime Time, Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose, and Brown Derby. Sci Fi was usually taking walkups, but the time would be a few hours away.

What I'm doing this May is leaving MGM to take the boat over to Spoodles, then I'll return in time for Fantasmic (I hope as the earliest ADR I could get was 5:00 PM, when they open). I really don't care for the dining options in MGM, but would choose Mama Melrose if I had to choose one.

We have eaten at Sci Fi both trips last year, at my son's request. This year I'd rather try something else, so we are going to the Brown Derby. I wanted to try the Fantasmic Package because I'm tired of wasting sometimes 2hrs holding a spot for the show.

Brown Derby is favorite but requires 2 credits on the DDP:mad:
I love the atmosphere at the Sci-Fi!

My whole family loved Hollywood and Vine. We ate there the first time with the characters when they still had Minnie and friends. We ate there again and got seating at fantasmic. Both times the food was excellent. I would go back again but my family doesn't want to eat with the characters they have now.

We have tried all of them except for Hollywood and Vine (several times) so I can't comment on that one. Our fav is Mama Melrose. Next I would pick Brown Derby. We liked this but it is $$$. Third we would pick 50s primetime. It has been good some times and bad others. Sci Fi would be our last choice. We have had some bad service and food here. I would try all of them again though. Good luck..:)
