MGM food

Maybe I am in the minority, but I do not like any of the restaurants in MGM. Where is the best place to go if I wanted to leave MGM to eat but go back later for Fantasmic? I am trying to schedule breaks in the day, but didn't want to have to go back to the hotel. Does anyone have a place that comes to mind?? I will have 3 kids along, if that makes a difference.

It depends on what kind of food you have in mind. You could take the boat over to YC/BC. There you have the Yachtsman Steakhouse (a little more formal), the Clam Bake at the Cape May Cafe (alot of fun, especially if you like clams/seafood), or Beaches & Cream (for great burgers and sandwiches). You can also go to any of the Boardwalk restaurants. We have gone to Spoodles and liked it. There is also Flying Fish & ESPN Zone (am I missing any?). If you are not on the meal plan you also have the restaurants at the S/D to choose from (I have not been to any of those). You really have alot of choices just a boat ride away!

A agaree there are lots of great places (already listed) in the Boardwalk - YC/BC area. What are the ages of your children? Do you want a nice quiet sit down meal (Yachtsmans Steakhouse 2 TS Credits on the DP, or Flying Fish at the Boardwalk), an airy seafood buffet (Cape May Buffet), a burger and fries (Beaches and Cream), appetizers and pub like food (ESPN Club) etc.
You can also walk to this area from MGM. We usually do walk at least once each trip. It will most likely be a bit quicker unless the boat is right there.
You can easily find a good meal and make it back for Fantasmic.

Just a FYI, beaches and cream is neat for burgers, fries and ice cream, but they do not take ADR and can get quite crowded. Cape May only serves breakfast and supper ( and you really DO want ADR for either of these). Another alternative for a quick meal is the beach grill by the y/bc pool. This does I believe accept CS, and I believe you can eat at the grill without going into pool area itself (as this is restircted to y/bc guests only and strictly enforced). I think it is called Hurricane Hannahs? And even though your kids couldnt use the pool, they could play in the sand by the lake in front of the resort .

I guess this poster means the Big River Grille........STAY AWAY!!!!!
Not a Disney restaurant in any way, shape, or form.....except for the high prices. The food is "OK" but the inside of the place needs a good cleaning and updating. You can get beer any many other restaurants in the Epcot resort area, no need to waste time and money at Big River.
