Our last Disney trip was 5yrs ago..... We loved the Drive-In for dinner...Is it still there and worth another visit? We're a family of 5...kids 10,5,5. Fast food gets old 2 days into the trip....Any other good choices MK/Epcot/MGM?

The Sci-Fi Drive-in is still there. My personal favorites are:

Disney Studios -- 50's Prime Time Cafe (great comfort food; great atmosphere if you are a baby-boomer; younger kids may not understand what's going on)

Epcot -- love Restaurant Marrakesh (Morocco) and Le Cellier (Canada)

MK -- Crystal Palace and Cosmic Rays -- I think CR has the BEST burgers anywhere at WDW.

Yes, Sci-Fi is still there and IMHO worth a trip for lunch. If you like buffets, you might try Crystal Palace, where Pooh and gang hang out. Staying with MGM, there is 50's Prime Time, they serve good homestyle cooking and use to be a good time with the servers.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Always Grumpy

We've been to Sci-Fi twice & although we enjoy the atmosphere, the two meals we have had there rate among the top three worst that we have had at WDW ( the other was Alfredo's at Epcot ). At MGM we always enjoy 50's Prime Time. Have heard others suggest dropping by Sci-Fi for a milk shake. We also love the Hollywood Brown Derby - it's a bit more formal, but we love their famous Cobb Salad.

At MK our favorite sit-down meal-escape the crowds respite is Cinderella's Castle. Lunch & dinner PS's are much easier to obtain than the elusive Princess breakfast. We have even gotten walk in seating before.

Epcot - well there are just too many to choose from! Each country around World Showcase pretty much has a sit-down restaurant. What type of food to you like & we might be able to help more.

Here's another idea! On your MK day, take the boat over to FW to eat at the Trail's End Buffet! It's reasonably priced, and the food is very good! The atmosphere is fun too!

After lunch you can pay a visit to the petting farm, and the kids can go on a pony ride!

If you do this for dinner, instead of lunch, then you could bring the kids to the campfire program after dinner. They make a big campfire where you can roast marshmallows, while joining in a sing-along. After the fire, they show a full-length Disney movie on the outdoor screen. There are bleachers and benches to sit on. Best of all - it's FREE for all WDW resort guests! :D

I really like Sci-Fi. The theming is great and the food is pretty good. It's one of my favorites at MGM (along with the Brown Derby) and definatly a great one for families. The 50s Prime Time Cafe is also a great one for families as well. Rgere are TVs at the tables playing 1950s sitcoms and humerous waitresses that pretend to be "mom" and tell parents to keep their elbows off their table. It's really cute for the kids.

As for EPCOT, Graden Grill's a good bet with kids. The restaurant actually rotates and you can see scenes from the land boat ride as you spin. Plus Mickey, Pluto, Chip, and Dale are at the meals. Biergarden in Germany is a great choice too. The show in there is very fun and entertaining for everyone.

At Magic Kingdom, I'd recogmend Cinderella's Royal Table. The atmosphere is great and it's a real thrill to be inside the Castle.

I enjoy the Sci-Fi. I especially LOVE the milkshakes. They are delicious!!:D

We liked Sci-Fi ok - the kids liked the idea of getting to sit up front while Mom & Dad were forced into the backseat. The food was good as I remember and the service was as well. I believe it is in the most recent issue of Disney Magazine (or perhaps the one before) there is a write-up on Sci-Fi. We like Mama Melrose- I especially like the flat bread pizzas. There are three or four menu selections for them or if you would like to you can make up your combination of ingredients. The 50's Prime Time is a fun place to eat as well - unfortunantely for me I am the only one that likes "comfort food" - so I have to beg to get to go there.

At Epcot try the Mexican Restaurant in El Tiempo del Rio (The River of Time). I have also heard great reviews of the restaurant in Italy. Rose & Crown in England is also good food and a fun place to eat.

In MK- Cinderella's Royal Table is a must. It is so neat to be eating in the castle. We like the Plaza Terrace ( I think that is the name, I can never remember) - in any event, it is located at the end of Main Street on the right as you head toward Tomorrowland. Try the Italian sandwich with onion rings on top. We also like Pecos Bill's in Frontierland- great for burgers and fries. I've got to stop typing I'm getting hungry.

My partner and I tried out the Sci Fi on two different occasions. We enjoyed it the first time, food was pretty good and the atomsphere was great. On our second visit, the atmosphere was still a lot of fun, but the menu changed. It's now merely adequate barbecue. It is, however, a great joint for kids, they'll love it!

You guys are the best.....I love the feedback! Uncle Al....I never heard of Mama Melrose...I'll have to look into that!

I hate wasting time on "what do want to do for dinner?" !!!!! This is great, I'll have a good idea of what direction to head!

Thanks again!
