MGM Character Meal Update Thread

Saturday March 4th - I called and was told that a lot of people have been asking about it but they don't have any info in the system. I'm not getting my hopes up on this one.

Come on guys, don't give up hope! If you know Disney, you know that they will not let anything out before THEY are ready to.

Facts:
There were auditions for a Sarge character advertised as being "for an exciting new character dining experience at Dinsey-MGM Studios"

I read a post on another board by someone who actually tried out for the character and said that it was indeed a new character meal at MGM and that rehearsals were happening in March.

It has been all over every Disney board, not just this one.

Scott is reporting the rumor on his PS Calculator website.

AllEars had it in a newsletter as a rumor.

People have spoken to CM's at Hollywood and Vine and they knew about it and confirmed that it was being done (which is still just hearsay, but promising!)


So, if this doesn't happen, it's not because it was just a rumor. There is always a chance that it won't happen - but look at the response it has gotten on the boards. You know Disney watches these boards so there is no way they can say this wouldn't be a money maker after the excitement it has created.

I have faith that it will happen, we just have to be patient and one day out of the blue, DisneyFanatik will change her post to "CALL - CALL - CALL!!" and we'll all be on happy-hold with Disney Dining for an hour or two!! Until then

Not sure if it is somewhere on this thread or a different one, but at one point someone posted that there was a job listing for 12 full time servers AFTER the listing for the character auditions, but that listing wasn't closing until the middle of March. Maybe they are still trying to get staff in place and won't start ADRs until they have everything covered.

On another thread yesterday (I'll try to think which thread) that person was told by a Dining CM to call back in about a week to see about the MGM meal.

I have been saying all along that I don't think they will start taking ADRs until they are fully staffed - that would be a recipe for disaster. We'll see!

I am hoping that something comes up someday, I just can't help but think disney knows something. We just have to keep the faith.

WOW I am totally out of the loop here. And to think I call myself a Disneyholic. I have never heard about this. MY DD would die for this. Will they really be having a character meal @ MGM?!?

Is it supposed to be @ Hollywood and vine? Going late Nov Hope I have a good chance at getting in. That way we could have a special meal for DS not just DD(cindy). Thanks for this thread.

I've just rang to book a Sedgway Tour and the CM asked if I needed anything alse or ADRs. I asked if she knew anything about the new Toy Story meal and she said it may not be Toy Story but Incredibles as Disney had just bought Pixars. Maybe it will be both?

Oh come on already.....we're going in early May and I really want to do this as part of my DS 8th birthday surprise. Sign me not so patiently waiting!

Where will this character meal be at MGM, or is that still up in the air? We are going at the end of May. Our ADR's need some tweeking, so I'd love to add this meal? Is there a confirmed restaurant?

3 weeks until we go and with each passing day, the likelihood of us getting this one for my DS gets more remote!!

boy, i got a not-so-nice cm this morning when i called to ask about this! she immediately got annoyed when i asked if there was any news for this. she said "{sigh} this always happens when people read unofficial websites! this is purely fiction! it's only a rumor! there hasn't been characters in MGM restaurants in about 4 years!" so i asked if they let the cm's know in advance when anything new becomes available, as in 'ok cm's, in a week we'll be doing a toy story meal" and she said no. so i said 'so it's possible this is in the works and you'll find out tomorrow and start taking reservations for it tomorrow or the next day" to which she didn't want to answer yes, so she wouldn't answer. so i reworded it (nicely), and she still wouldn't answer. boy, what a crabby-pants she was!! i can see where it might get annoying for them with us all calling about it, but really, she's being paid to sit there for x amount of hours, whether she's fielding calls from "unnofficial website readers" or doing actual adr's. anyway, obviously no new news! and btw, the unofficial sites are so much better than the official site and have so much more info and detailed info, and i have yet to get info from a reputable unofficial site that was "wrong". hopefully i'll get a nicer cm next time i call.

I might be a loaner, but I sure hope that they use the toy story characters when they do this. My kids didn't ger into the incredibles that much.
