MGM Character Meal Update Thread

I don't want to start a major uproar here, but has anyone tried to book LUNCH at H&V recently? Just lunch, no mention of characters? I just read a post in which the person said they already booked lunch for late June, so that way, if the characters appear, they already have their reservation!

Anyone want to give it a try and see what happens?

I was told by a CM @ Dining that there is no lunch at H&V and that dinner starts at 3pm. Is this correct?

As of right now, this is true, there is no lunch at H&V.
But with the rumors of a new character meal, we think it's going to be a breakfast and a lunch. However, someone else posted on a completely different thread that they were able to book a lunch at H&V, but just not a character lunch. I have not seen anyone else be able to book a lunch and when I called yesterday, was told there is not anything at H&V before dinner.

I a few weeks ago attempted to call and see if I could make reservations for our upcoming trip at H&V for breakfast or lunch...I made NO mention of the character meal to see what kind of reaction I would get from the CM and I was told that the meal there is only dinner!

From the sounds of it the wait till this opens up is going to be LONG!

Yes, there was a date of June 2nd posted on another site.

Also, about the lunch, this person said she was working with concierge and they had made all their reservations for late June. This included an H&V lunch.

1. Maybe she is just "thinks" concierge has already made all of her ressies and they really just made a list of all the places she wants to eat.

2. Maybe concierge CAN make reservations for something that is going to happen? I don't know. I do know someone in concierge, I'll have to ask him. But, I do know that sometimes the concierge can get people AR's that they couldn't get on their own. So, I don't know.

I have been checking this thread daily (thanks for doing this) and today I called information in Orlando and got the direct line to H & V. I spoke to a woman named Annie at the front and she told me that the staff at H & V were recently told that the Breakfast and Beyond character meal is going to happen, but the start date is some time in June. Our trip is in May, so we lose out, but apparently there has been some sort of delay! Boo Hoo!

Thanks to the cruz family for keeping this one going. Author Simon Veness who publishes the brits guide to Orlando, also co-moderator on one of the Uk boards has added to his askdaisy.net website that the character meal starts in April!!!! I have asked him to confirm if this is fact or rumour but am waiting a reply.

When I called on March 6, I was asked by a CM if I had a special code or had received a special mailing. I was thinking that it could mean that they are doing a 'soft opening' for cast members. It could explain why the concierge was able to make an ADR in late June. Let's hope today's the day we will be able to make our ADR's!! Thanks for all of the updates.

The CM I got was clueless! Not only did she know nothing about the character meal, she was trying to tell me I could book now for October. I told her not until next month and she continued, now you can book 180 days in advance. She could not seem to understand 180 is not until next month.

Our info is still that the Breakfast & Beyond meal is due to start booking 'soon.' Disney-MGM Studios remains the one park without a character meal, and it is something management want to correct. I guess they want to make sure they have got the format correct before they launch it officially, but we do expect this to happen before the big Easter season kicks in.

On the subject of the new H&V character meal, no sooner do I post something than we get some more news - sadly, that the opening of the Breakfast & Beyond meal has been postponed until June. No word as to why, I'm afraid.

Most rest. try to have a soft start when they're rolling out new offerings. Seem to recall H&V used to offer a char. breakfast several years ago?
