MGM and Fasspasses

I was reading the Unofficial Guide 2006 about fastpasses at MGM. I had planned to go get fasspasses when we get to the park (early afternoon) for Indiana Jones and Lights, Motor, Action. My thought was since they will be only offered once or twice while I am there (or eating or waiting for Fantasmic), I want to be assured I can get in.

The guide gives the opposite advice - use FP for rides before shows. They say that the time you save for a ride far exceeds what you will save on getting a seat for the show.

Any old pros out there - do you agree with the UG? We will be going in late October so it shouldn't be too busy.

The stadium for Lights, Motors Action is very large. We arrived right before the show and there were plenty of seats. Same with Indiana Jones.

I agree. We always go the last week of Sept. and we have never needed a FP for any of the shows. In fact we just show up about 15 minutes before showtime and there is usually plenty of good seats left.

I have read that you can get a FP for L,M,A and still get another FP for a ride also if you run into a really crowded day. Hope that helps!

We got a FP for LMA, and they just let everyone in together. It didn't make any difference that we had one. Save your FP for a ride.

Getting a FP for LMA definitely does not count against your allotment of FP. You can get another one immediately. We were there a week ago and I thought the FP to LMA was worthwhile. Although the parks weren't very crowded, there sure were a lot of people for this particular show! The two groups (FP and non-FP) lined up, but they let all the FP people in first, which gives you better seating. JMO

I'd say I tend to agree with the UG's recommendation. Getting a FP for a ride is more to your advantage than getting a FP for a show.
