Hi!

We are planning to go to Mexico in May, Playa Del Carmen.

The last time we went we had a blast and are going to take the kids this time. DD will almost be 2, DS will be 9 and other DS will be 11.

We were at the Riu Tequila the last time and are looking at the same hotel, all inclusive.

Has anyone taken their kids to Mexico before? What other hotels are kid friendly?

We are going to get passports for everyone since we may be going to Europe in a few years, but should I get one for the baby? I know I don't need one, but can you get toddlers passports?

Thanks!

Jess

I think the rules have recently or are going to change soon and every U.S. citizen will need passports to go in and out of the country, even to Canada and Mexico. Ah ha! Here is the info.: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2225.html

My DH doesn't feel comfortable taking the kids out of the U.S. right now. We're looking at going to St. Thomas or St. Johns as possible destinations with the kids next summer since the U.S.V.I. is part of the U.S.

We've stayed at the Iberostar Tucan, the Iberostar Paraiso, and the Barcelo Maya. All seemed to be kid friendly (mine are teenagers, so we didn't need day care facilities, etc.). I have also heard good things about the Gala Resort as being kid friendly as well.

The Yucatan is a wonderfully relaxing and safe vacation. Have fun!!

I just booked a trip for the Iberostar Paraiso del mar (all-inclusive). My neighbors were there this summer w/ their kids and loved it. No one got sick. The 11 year old said it was the best vacation she ever had - including (yikes) Disney!

I was thinking passports for DH and I and just birth cert. for the kids.

Wow, that Iberostar Paraiso looks awsome. We have only been to Playa once and were at the Riu Tequila which was really nice. Maybe I should check into this one too.

Is it far from the town? We had to take a taxi from our hotel to get down where the ferry goes to Cozumel.

Thanks!

Jess

I think it's only 20 min. from town and the hotel offers a free shuttle.
