I posted a slideshow of pics from my Thanksgiving trip to Mexico. If you're interested, you can download it from my slideshow page. As usual for my slideshows, it's an EXE that only runs on Windows compatible computers. This one is about 34 meg and runs for just over 5 minutes. It's primarily pictures of my kids, neices, and nephews, so don't expect a lot of wonderful Mexican scenery.

I'll post shots from the trip to my smugmug site later.

Very nice show. You even managed to get a few shots of yourself in there. There aren't many of me in our family vacation photos.

Excellent shots as usual Mark! I always like how you carefully compose the shots to the music. In this case, I love how you end it with the sunset shots. Great Job!

Abolutely stunning pictures!!! I love the family pictures on the beach!

great shots as usual mark, especially like the one of ( think it's one of your sons) with surf spray/foam as the background. looks like a beautiful resort !

did you use your waterproof camera for the body surfing shots?

I posted all of the pictures on my Smugmug site at http://barbieri.smugmug.com/gallery/3924363#227815017.

Here are a few samples:

My wife getting patched up after a nasty encounter with coral. She ended up with 8 stiches.

The "buffet" where we had most of our meals. It didn't open until 7:00 AM, so I was usually starving the time breakfast finally rolled around. Who the heck sleeps until 7:00 on vacation?

We had some pretty sunsets.

They had some crazy looking lizards roaming around the area.

Here's yours truly getting shoved around by some dolphins.

Here are those dolphins jumping over us.

Here is Kukulcan Temple at Chichen Itza. They wouldn't let me bring in a tripod. It wasn't a very photographer friendly place.

Here is a cenote we swam in. It doesn't look like much from this angle, but I jumped off that platform at the top of the stairs. It took a bit of nerve, both because of the height and the coldness of the water.

Here's an extended family portrait. It's kind of a strange family.

Here's the main pool at night.

This is what the hotels and grounds looked like.

Here's a little boogie boarding action.

I love that family portrait shot. Bunch of goofballs! Looks like a great time. Appreciate you sharing all of the shots and enjoyed them as usual.

That's how it is, huh?

I'm normally the one saying "what do you mean, you've stoppped serving breakfast? It's only 11 o'clock!" And as for sunrise, well, logically it must happen, but...

Anyway nice pictures, and I enjoyed the video. Well done! Looks like a fun holiday, too... mostly... hope your wife's foot got better quickly.

Was that the 1D on the beach, or did you use something more ... disposable?

regards,
/alan

When I'm on vacation, I like to enjoy every bit of daylight possible. That means getting up in time to go out by sunrise. Heck, for this trip, I could sleep in until 5:30 and still have plenty of time. Just don't bug me after sunset. I just want to get my photos dumped to the laptop, read the kids some stories, and go to bed.

As for cameras, I used the 1D for most shots, including beach shots. For shots in the water, I used an old 10D in an EWA Marine bag and a Pentax W30 waterproof point and shoot. The W30 flaked on us about two days into the trip. I still haven't looked into why.

The family photo shot was done after we took the full group photo, the photos of each sub-family, the photo of just the grandkids, and the photo with just my siblings. I thought it would be fun to have one more shot of everyone, but with this time having everyone do whatever odd thing they felt like doing. The idea was to have a bit of fun and capture some personality.
