Is there still a QS option in Mexico, or is that gone now. I know it is not where it use to be, but did they just move it or totally take it away? Can you a snack credit there? I was thinking Nacho;s.

We ate at La Cantina outside the Mexico pavillion in Sept. I'm pretty sure it was their soft opening but it was by far the worst experience of our entire vacation.

First of all, you won't get nachos- the menu is extremely limited. Second of all, don't even think of trying to eat there at regular meal times. The seating is very limited and my family and I ended up balancing our food on the bench and TRASH CAN just outside the restaurant. Limited menu and seating are not things that are going to be easily overcome so we will keep walking when we see this place in the future.

The Cantina de San Angel is open lagoon side in Mexico. It was closed for quite awhile and a temporary stand was in its place. That temporary stand is closed now. I don't think there was any seating for the temporary stand. Maybe that is what the PP experienced.
The Cantina is in the same building as the new La Hacienda, which is a TS restaurant serving dinner starting at 4 PM. The Cantina is able to use the indoor seating of La Hacienda during the day, as well as its own outdoor seating area.
We have always enjoyed La Cantina and we will be returning on our next trip.

The new CS is open - I can't remember the name. We ate there last month. It does have very limited seating. We actually thought the food was exceptionally good for CS. DH had the beed tacos and I had the chicken - I preferred the chicken - the beef was shredded - which I don't like in general. I think there were 2 or 3 smaller sized tacos, but it was filling enough. They came with tri-colored chips. Desserts are limited and I really don't recall what other items they had.

I will say that we happened to be on DDP at that time and felt it was a decent use of a credit. I would not have paid OOP for it. The entrees were $10 roughly without a drink.

The new sitdown place is right beside it. Opens at 4pm. San Angel was definitely taking a hit - nearly empty inside around 1pm.

La Cantina de San Angel is the name of the CS restaurant (it's the same name it used to be). Menu (like most Disney restaurants) is pretty small, but they do have the nachos (or at least did last Sept). However, from reading this menu it does not appear that the Nachos are offered as a snack credit, though the Churros were rather good.

This picture was taken on that Sept trip.

For dinner, it does seem like seating would be rather limited, however, for lunch the majority of the La Hacienda de San Angel dining room is open to sit in, giving quite a bit of extra seating.

Thanks guys. We have lunch res. at LeCeller's, so thought this might be an options for a small meal later in the evening. I know the drinks are pretty good, so might stop for a Margarita and nachos.

Picky question but DS only likes nachos with real shredded cheese melted under the broiler, not the liquid queso stuff. I'm assuming these are the liquid? Anyone know where in the World to find the other kind?

It is still there and we just had the best Nachos last weekend...they were huge and delish!

Nope it wasn't the temporary place it was La Cantina. When we got our food all of the table by the lagoon were absolutely full and it was evening so the indoor seating wasn't available to us. My kids sat on a bench and I placed my food on tray on top of a trash can so I could eat. To each their own but we won't be going back.

Yep, I would agree that the outdoor seating does seem pretty limited. Especially if nearing (within an hour or so) Illuminations time as lots will be staking out tables ahead of time. This may be a best to do in off-times and away from Illuminations time type of place (or just not recommended for Dinner at all).

Of course, it had also just reopened, so the "newness" may have also fed into the business of it as well, but I too was rather surprised at the lack of seating outdoors when I visited for lunch last year. (Of course, it was also around 1:30pm and completely dead, and no one else knew you could eat indoors, so it wasn't a problem for me :p)
