We are thinking about having dinner at San Angelo inn. I was thinking "I'm getting me a margarita!" And I looked at prices. $12.50 for a classic margarita! I see at the counter service you can get them for 9.50 which is more reasonable. Here is my question, who can speak of the quality? Sometimes I get drinks at world showcase and I'm like "this has alcohol in it right?" What's your pick?

We love the margaritas at San Angel as they come from La Cava and are definitely a step above what you get via counter service. Now that said I've read as of late they are using more mixes and less quality tequila but that hasn't been our experience.

They are not the same. The ones in San Angel are worth more than the ones at the outside stand.

I've not had them but read on easywdw that La Cava pours them out of pre-mixed containers, now, because of the volume of customers. You can pick out one of their premium tequilas and have them mix the drink, but it might be more than 12.50. I'm not sure if I can link his post from the blog, but google "easywdw la cava margaritas shrink" and you'll see his rant and the pics.

I can't stand the counter service margaritas. Love the ones at La Cava (which is the same at San Angel) and the ones served at Jardin de Fiestas (also run by La Cava).

I tend to go with wine or beer in WS, myself. The few times I've had a mixed drink there, it has been underwhelming. The bartender at Blue Zoo, over at Swan/Dolphin, made an EXCELLENT margarita for my mom - individual ingredients in a shaker and everything.

I may have high expectations. I live in Tx and don't like most restaurants' margaritas. The frozen versions mask poor mixing (and the too sweet mixes) better than on-the-rocks.

Not sure where the heck I've been but I can't believe they closed the Margarita stand. I happen to be one that loved the frozen margaritas there and was looking forward to having a few next week.... ugh!!!

I agree. It was a tradition to always get a Fiesta Margarita from there. Rumor has it that the closure is temporary.

We love the margaritas from La Cava. They are amazing, and definitely not watered down. The cucumber is my favorite!!

Will have to check out the situation when I'm there next week.

I am a bit disappointed to here that so much is now pre-mixed at La Cava. I guess it is a victim of it's own success - at least I don't have to wait in that ridiculous line anymore at F&W

Of course if you pick a specific tequila like Don Julio Anejo I'm sure they will make it fresh - but you pay for it

Or skip the margarita and get a tequila flight. That's what I did!

definitely not the same margarita.

I just order the jalapeno margarita. then they have to muddle the pepper and mix it.

The closure is temporary, the stand will reopen in a new location...but I'd look for a different (and probably more expensive) menu when it does.

We are fans of the avocado margarita but they they're definitely now pre-mixed and we should have sent them back when we there in May, really weak. In the future we will stick to the jalapeno and only on $10 Margarita Monday (someone has to muddle that one at least).

Our recommendation is still a Fin Du Monde at the Canada cart or a double anything at R&C. Pretty much everything else at WS we skip these days.

My wife being a tequila snob, has to stop in at the tequila bar in Mexico...after she is done, I kiss $60 goodbye on two drinks :(

1) Yes.
2) When the stand was on the other side of the walking path (nearer the lake) they were decent.
3) When they moved across the path, they changed the recipe.
4) DD1, who likes margaritas was really disappointed.

Ooooh, I forgot about the Irish Coffee we got from R&C before watching IlumiNations on our Jan/14 trip. Whoo, was it strong!

Hmmm... our margaritas were muddled and mixed right in front of us. There didn't appear to be any pre-mixed.
