Mexico boat ride closed Jan & Feb

El Rio de Tempo will be closed in Jan & Feb -- during our next trip. I know it's a lame ride, but my son loves it for some reason. Plus, his favorite ride, Winnie the Pooh will also be closed. And the RnRC will be closed for me.

But, it's the off-season so it's to be expected. The price we pay for no crowds!

Why do you say Rockin' Rollercoaster will be closed for you? I just checked disneyworld.com and it does not mention any closures for MGM Studios for Jan. or Feb.

I've been watching because we will be there in January too.

I, for some reason, like the ride. It is cool and relaxing. It should be about 5 minutes longer. So should Malstrom, Soarin', and about 5 other rides and shows. Of course the idea is to leave you hungry for more.

I read on one of the newsletters.....mousesavers, I believe that both RnR and Splash will be down during my Jan. trip

All Ears Net has the Splash Mountain rehab dates as Jan 2-27, and Winnie the Pooh from Jan 28-Feb 11. No mention of RnRC or El Rio del Tiempo...yet...

Just read this post and went to disney's website and sure enough they are closing El Rio del Tiempo down Jan 2-31st for a rehab. As for RNR it isn't on disney site as being rehab, and another poster said they called disney to ask if they would be closing it down and the castmemeber told them no. I'm excited about my disney trip, but sorta bummed too. It seems like everything is getting a rehab, I just guess me and DBF will just have to come back next year - also Im going to miss the christmas decortations I didn't think I would but the closer it gets to christmas the more i wish we were going when we normaly do. Oh well like I said always next year

Disneyworld.com has El rio Del tiempo closed for refurb Jan 2 - April 1st 2007... must be doing some updating or something with it being down that long

We LOVE Rio Del Tiempo--and I don't know why!!!!! I love the last scene with he fireworks on the ceiling and I LOVE riding by the volcano while the diners are enjoying their meal. Its so much fun!!!! Disney can turn the inside of a building into a nighttime open market and convince me that I really am there!!! Ok, I have to BUY INTO it--but I still say its Disney Magic!!!

All that being said, this does need some sprucing up. Some of the scenes are showing their age (70's???!!!) and an update would be fun!!!

The only place I have seen any mention of RnR closing is on Intercot. It says

"Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is tentatively scheduled to be closed for refurbishment January 7 - February 10, 2007."

I hope not as I am going Feb 1-5.

Okay, Mecha Figment I'll bite. Are you insinuating that Donald and the Cabelleros may show up in the refurbed El Rio Del Tiempo??That would be cool.
I'm not too happy the timing of the refurb though. I too love the ride and will miss it since we'll be there the end of January. Bummer. It's one of our kids' faves too. I don't care if it's lame...that tune is catchy.
