Requesting suggestions on arranging transportation & hotel when we fly into LAX prior to our cruise. The cruise departs on the Sunday so our arriving flight choices would be Friday night at about 9:30 pm(LAX) or Saturday morning at about 11:30 am(LAX). Thought about disneyland on Saturday...would just an afternoon be worth it? Should we arrange a car service? Following the cruise, the non-stop flight departs @ 11:35 am. Would we be able to make this flight? Thanks so much in advance!!!

Do you have to fly in and out of LAX? I really don't like that HUGE airport! Consider LGB ~ it's a easy, little airport and it's the closest to the pier!

I got a quote from Zippy shuttle. They quoted us $200 for a private van form LAX to Grand Californian,
Grand Californian to Ship
and Ship to LAX
For 2 Adults and 2 Kids.
I thought that was really good.

That seems like a great rate. Thanks for sharing the info. It would be 2 adults and 2 kids for us too. Do you know travel time between LAX and DL; DL resort to port; port to LAX????? Just trying to fiqure out flight times that might work for us.

Going from LAX to the ship is about a 45 minute drive, if there is no traffic about 30 minutes, but LA is not LA with out traffic. LAX to Disneyland, could be up to 2 hours, not because of distance but the traffic is so bad. Long beach airport or John Wanye Airport would be much better pick if you have not purchased you air fare yet. We hired a cab to take us from the ship to Disneyland and it cost us 70 dollars last year.

We're going to need transport from SNA to the port in Long Beach (staying the night on the Queen Mary), then will probably just do a taxi from Long Beach over to San Pedro. Been told that taxi could be $25-40 (we won't be traveling in AM rush hour).

Think I'll go google Zippy Shuttle. Any other suggestions?

Here is the link to Zippy shuttle.

DCL is recommending that departure flights should be after 12:30pm.

Thanks! Will check it out now.

Don't have to worry about flying home...we're renting a car and driving back...so we can do Storyteller's at the Grand Californian for brunch and the Cabazon outlet mall on the way home! :thumbsup2

Concerned with return flight. In your experience, is it reasonable, on a Sunday am, to consider a 11:35 am flight out of LAX? The next direct flight for us isn't until 6:00 pm.

Thinking backwards, you should be at the airport two hours before your flight. That means you need to be at LAX by 9:35. Figure 45 minutes to get from San Pedro to LAX (probably less on a Sunday morning but you don't want to chance that) and you need to get off of the boat by 8:50. If you have early seating for meals or order room service the final morning, it should work.

Thought about disneyland on Saturday...would just an afternoon be worth it?

If you have never been to Disneyland, then an afternoon would not suffice. If you want to work Disneyland into your itinerary, I would suggest the Friday night arrival so you can have all day Saturday for Disneyland.

MiceCast:
I am leaning towards the Friday night arrival so we have more time at DL and I fiqured less traffic after 10:00 pm from LAX. Thanks for the suggestion.
