Mexican Riviera Cruise 03/27/2011

Going on this cruise in less than a week! Would love to hear about your excursions!!!

In PV, we went to Las Caletas. Its a 45 minute boat ride along a very pretty shoreline and free bar and an energetic crew that wants to entertain. Then you get off on a private and exceptionally pretty beach area. We had an amazing lunch (far better than the food on the ship) in an area that hugs the beach and the jungle. Then we interacted with parrots and monkeys (my 2 year old is still talking about a baby monkey climbing on his head). Then quite a bit of time to relax, play at the beach, use complimentary water equipment, take nature hikes, etc. The 2 year old blew through his nap and was still jazzed on the boat ride back (he crashed at the start of dinner but was wide awake by the time Toy Story started that evening).

In Cabo, we spent the first day on the ship. More people seemed to go ashore that day, so the ship was nice and quiet. Also, it meant we had good spots staked out on deck during all of the warm weather. On the second Cabo day, the ship left in the early afternoon and the weather immediately got cold and windy so having a spot staked out was less useful.

On the second Cabo day, we went on the Resort Beach Getaway. It did NOT take us to the resort pictured on DCL's web site...it took us to a much prettier resort called Villa Del Arco. Clean, elegant, and looks quite new. It had an amazing pool area, including a toddler area pool with fountains, as well as an area of the beach reserved for us. The beach had a view of the Wonder. Some drinks were included. A buffet brunch of really good, authentic Mexican food was included. Resort staff was warm, friendly, and helpful (even compared to Disney standards). Chairs around the pool were harder to come by. Transportation to and from the resort was right where it needed to be, including first aid for a scraped knee. I wouldn't have minded staying an extra night or two at this place.

Thanks to all of you for making this a great cruise for our kids and us. They loved checking their pockets of the FE every time they came back. It was great to meet you all and see you throughout the ship. I had hoped to make it on Sat for the farewell however my back did not want to cooperate so I thank you here for all the gifts you gave us! Sure glad I brought the extra suitcases!!

I also wanted to say thanks to everyone. It was great to meet you all and we loved all our FE Gifts. Im trying to figure out how we will ever finish all that candy. I have nothing but good things to say about the cruise. The crew was exceptionally nice and the food each night was delicious. Our waiters went above and beyond and came to know what we liked.

As far as excursions. I would recommend the "Outdoor Adventure" in Puerta Vallarta to all. It was a great day where we were riding a mule, ziplining into water and rappeling down a waterfall. If you want nonstop action this is the way to go, just remember to take your bug repellant, you are in the mountains and there are lots of bugs. I have tons of bugbites but still had so much fun.

In cabo we swam with the Dolphins and again have nothing but good things to say about this. Its fun, fun, fun. Also make sure to visit Medano beach it is very nice and there is a small but nice restaurant close by that was quite inexpensive.

We are already thinking about our next vacation and Disney will definately be at the front of the list.

I'm still getting back onto the swing of things- and checking the boards again- I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that made the FE exchange possible. Kailah was so excited to go back to room and find the thoughtful gifts- me too!

One of my favorite moments was delivering the FE gifts- after the first floor Kailah looked like she was so tired- I asked her if she wanted me to push her in the stroller- she did... and she fell asleep! She gave up naps quite a long time ago- To have her sleeping in the day- precious!

Just another belated "thank you" to everyone! We really enjoyed meeting everyone and the girls had lots of fun with their new friends. To the FE group, thanks for some great stuff. For the folks who deposited the reusable disney bags, thank you as that gave us a way of getting our FE stuff off the ship! To the crafty person who made the "Wonder" keychains, we're using them right now.

We really had a lot of fun with everyone and hope that our paths cross again. We're on the Fantasy at the end of May 2012, so if you're on that cruise too, please look us up!

Well I'm ready for another cruise anyone else? I check into the prices for Hawaii the 2nd day and nothing was available. I checked again last night, lots of levels available but, I think I will have to hold off on that one. WAY TO Spendy for me... 4700 for two adults for an inside cabin. I guess we will have to wait until I can save a bit longer. I'm thinking I just going to have to just to the DVC resort in Hawaii instead.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting all of you at the meet. I wish we could have socialized more but there was just so much fun to be had. We spent time all over the ship. We had a great cabin and spent a lot of time on the veranda, laying out and getting a nice sun(burn)tan...

Love all the FE items, it was great to see what everyone thought of and brought.

On the home front, I'm busy at work and DD is preparing for her Grad Recital and very busy at work, it the busy season. She is also working on a major term paper. But you know she keeps a bit of time for fun also.

She had to purchase a Dooney and Bourke Hand bags. How many others did also. But she went one step further, she is pretty artistic so she had to add to the bag experience by making a pair of tennies.

Here was she has been doing in her spare time what little she has of it.

Oh My Goodness, those shoes are SPECTACULAR!!!!!!! You ought to post a pic of these on the main thread! You would most likely get dozens of, "Is she selling pairs of these??!!" She's very talented. Ww were the same on the cruise, trying to see it all/do it all, it was such a fun trip!

Well she has had some request but it really hard to "sell" if you know what I mean. She has asked for supply costs. . She is suppose to make some for me this weekend when I go back and see her and we are going to wear them to the park on Friday. another CM at work asked her to make some for her sister that works on the Dream. She has a heavy load until school is out then she going to try and work as much as possible and work on all her craft things.

I was shocked how they turned out. She has done some with the disney electrical light parade theme also.

She loves doing this stuff.

Susan, You are very lucky to get a pair of these! What a talented daughter you have! Glad to see that you made it home, and are going back again. My husband is still trying to figure out how he can get that room of yours for our next cruise!

We too miss the mouse and have decided that we will be going to Florida on the Veterans day weekend, the kids have an extra long weekend and we were able to get reasonable flights so of course we are going to go!

Thanks everyone for the great time that we had while on board, it was great, all the activities! Who would have thought a 16 year old girl would be excited about bingo? Occasionally, still when someone says a number in our house, there is a saucy "I got it" or "i don't got it" said.

We did make it back to Canada, but not without some drama.. stranded in Denver for what could have been 5 days, but i won't get into that!

On my 5 days in Denver, not as 5 more days stuck on the ship which would have been better.

Yes we had a really supper cabin. I would love to get one of those again.

Hi everyone!!

Not sure if anyone is checking in on our cruise board, but thought I'd pop in and say hello!

CalDisfans... we've booked our next cruise on Disney from LA to Vancouver (repositioning) May 14, 2012.

We're headed to the Grand Californian just before Christmas 2011 for a week of relaxation!

I hope we hear from folks! We truly enjoyed our cruise and had such a great time being able to sit with folks and wave to each other as we passed in the hallways.
