Hi, this is my first trip report (or something like that) so please bear with me. I'm not a big fan of writing:/
Their was DW (me) 31
DH 31
DD 6
DS 5
This was not our first time cruising, my husband and I have done 5..Carnival and Royal Caribbean
This was the second for our kids, and everyones first on Disney
We love Disneyland (and pretty much anything disney) and LOVE cruising so we thought we combine the two and see how we liked it.
We got to the port Sunday morning around 10am got boarding #5. This process was really easy. I think we boarded around noon. DH went straight to guest services for tea tickets, but they were't doing it on this cruise
I went straight to wavebands to book Palo and change dinner time. I was first on the waiting list to change to early dinning, and booked a Palo brunch. I thought for sure I'd get early seating, since I was first on the list. But no luck!! We had late seating on our last 8 night cruise with the kids, and didn't really like it. It was too late for them and for us adults too. So not getting changed was a lil disappointing, but definitely not gonna let it ruin our cruise.
Now off to Parrot Cay for lunch. No wait, got seated right away. Food was good. I must say the food was the most disappointing part of the whole cruise. Don't get me wrong it was good, but I've had much better on other cruises. With the exception of Palo...which was amazing btw...nothing was really outstanding to me. I also was disappointed in the beach blanket buffet. Very small, not much variety, and horrible hours. I felt like every time I went it was closed. The other cruises I've been on the buffets really stand out in my mind cause there was so much selection.
Got our room around 2 and our luggage was there so I unpacked while the kids relaxed for a few minutes. Took them to check out the Lab and club, they loved it and pretty much wanted to be there the whole cruise.
Dinner was at PC. Our servers were nice, but the service was not at all what we expected. Our assistant had only been there 3 weeks and really did'nt know what she was doing, so our waitier was running around doing a lot of things that were her job. Our area that they served were pretty much the last ones at dinner every night.
We watched all the shows and LOVED all of them. I think this is were Disney really puts focus and lot of attention to, that and the kids clubs. MY kids loved the clubs and really enjoyed all the activities. Luckily for us they weren't really interested in the characters. I heard the lines were over an hour long for some of the characters. Everywhere we went there were lines for everything, and if you don't get in line early, be prepared to wait a long time.
Spent one of the days at sea at the pool. OMG....I knew there was gonna be a lot of kids, but my goodness. The pool area was madness. It was hard to find somewhere to sit, the water was a greyish, brown color, and they had to clean it out many times because of accidents. My kids had fun, but i was so sure they were gonna end up sick or get pink eye from the dirty water. So with said we avoided the pool area the rest of the trip.
Loved the stops. Had a terrific time at all of them. We did the boardwalk and beach in PV. Took a taxi there for about $8, spent all our time walking around
and then found a nice place to eat right on the beach and let the kids have fun playing in the surf and sand. In Cabo day 1 did a tour of the arches and beaches....all four of us for $20 then they dropped us at Medano beach and picked us up right on time. What a deal!! Day 2 walked around the shop area for awhile then went back to medano beach were we soaked up the sun, had some pina coladas and coronas....oh and yummy fish tacos
I tried to get as much beach in as we could so that when back on board they wouldn't want to go back to the pools:/ It worked
Overall I LOVE,LOVE,LOVED my vacation. Will I ever do a Disney cruise again?! Most likely not. I think we'll stick to the parks. I just thought my other cruises had better food, service and were more relaxing. The cruise felt to hectic. Now if you ask my kids, i'm sure they would love the go back, but they also commented on the other cruise and said they liked it just as much. It was a great experience and I'm glad we did it. I just need another vacation to re cooperate
