OK. I know the dress code has been debated to death. Therefore I request that this does not turn into a dress code debate.

I was looking at the 7/5/03 Western Navigator from Barb's site. On Cozumel night it says: Suggested attire: Mexican, Tropical, Casual, (no shorts or jeans please).

Now, here is my question which I am posing to those Western Cruisers who have cruised in the last 2 or 3 months since it has been listed this way:

Did you wear shorts to dinner on this evening? Did you notice whether most people did or did not wear shorts?

I am not asking should we or what do you think . I am asking what you did and what you saw others doing. Sorry for being so picky about what I am asking but I really, really, don't want to start a dress code debate.

Thanks!

Tropicali/Mexicali nights are the only night that shorts are okay in the dining rooms--in fact they are encouraged. Tropical attire is fun and bright--and includes shorts. Many of the ladies wear tropical print sundresses and many men wear the tropical shirts with shorts. You will definitely see a LOT of shorts at dinner on this night.

SueEllen,
I was just checking whether this is still true as the Navigators seem to discourage shorts.

Not to try and beat a dead horse here, but we did this cruise last year and just got back from the Eastern and I remember seeing alot of people wearing nice shorts and a tropical shirt and thought everyone seemed appropriately dressed. I also remember being encouraged by our servers not to forget dressing for the occassion which included nice shorts. We are doing the Western again and intend on doing the same shorts thing we've always done......Andy

Hubby and son wore Docker shorts and tropical shirts to dinner on Tropicali on our May cruise. THE MAJORITY of males of all ages wore shorts this night.

I really wish I had worn shorts on this night. It was really hot on deck and I had shorts that matched my tropical shirt. I highly recommend shorts.

DH wore shorts on Mexicali night in May and was in the majority at dinner that night.

In July, I intended to wear shorts until I read the Navigator and I am glad that I did not wear them. I did not see ONE male wearing shorts at dinner that night--it surprised me.

No, we would have been in Animator's Palate for Mexicali night. It is relatively new, as I understand it, that they have explicitly said no shorts on Mexicali night. I got on the cruise thinking I could wear shorts that night (especially after a long day in the sun on our excursion), but I honored what it said in the Navigator. I repeat: I did not see any male wearing shorts to dinner that night, but saw many at the show and after dinner who were in shorts (and we observed people going to and from dinner at all of the restaurants, so I don't think this was just a quirk at our meal). I'm sure there may have been a few people in shorts, but I explicitly looked for them (since the no shorts instruction was frankly a surprise to me) and did not see any.

DD, mom and dad wore shorts. I wore a festive dress. None felt out of place.
