Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

I failed to mention one thing....this is Abi's mother's third divorce and she's only 32. Abi hated her step-dad and is quite happy about it.:rolleyes1 I'm sounding ugly now.

Oh stop, you don't sound ugly-

Just like Clairee in Steel Magnolias said "If you don't have anything good to say, come sit by me!". I'm so bad. :rotfl:

Third divorce at 32! That's just scary- I'm 32! I can't even imagine that. Not only that, but she's got a 16 yo daughter. I REALLY can't imagine that! Poor Abi though- she probably has been through a lot.

Scary is right! No wonder the child has issues! Kyle needs to just keep walking..:rolleyes1

You are too funny!!!! It really is a miracle that Abi is still a good girl after everything she's been through. I'm just afraid she's hanging with a bad group, from what Kyle has heard, and she could be headed in the wrong direction.:sad2:

Kathy, DD dated a boy with the same family issues. We really liked this kid & hoped he would turn out well. But he broke our DD's heart not once but twice. I recently heard that he will be graduating a bit late but with a Master's. Which we are very glad to hear, but he is not dating anyone seriously.

Did you guys hear that a tornado touched down in Terrytown? Johnny called me and said WWL radio was reporting it. I'm telling you around 3:00 I was petrified, the rain & wind were the worst I've ever seen and the electricity was flickering on and off. I ran into the hall bathroom and hunkered down.

Yeah it was scary bad over here too. Hope the worst of it is over. Glad you're okay!

Us too! Kurt jr was upset because he left his "motorcycle"(that's what he calls his big wheel  ) outside. So while I am trying to gather candles and the lighter and the boys into the bathroom...Kurt jr keeps yelping "Motorcycle ... outside!" Luckily we are all safe and sound and the motorcycle is cleaner... :rotfl:

Good Morning.

I hope you were all safe from the nasty weather that passed through yesterday. I had to take Kendall to Gymnastics last night and couldn't believe all the broken trees and general mess on the roads in Mandeville. :sad2: I'm glad that's over. It's a chilly 39 degrees at my house right now.

Hey all you Terrytowners....I don't like it when I hear y'all mentioned on the news in association with a tornado touchdown! Did everyone do OK....Northshore...Westbank....? Kind of weird that it's one year ago today y'all had that tornado skipping around on the Westbank.

So sad about that woman who died @ Lallie Kemp in Independence. What was she thinking going outside?

Weather was rough here just in time for the kiddos to get off the school bus. Marble-sized hail, and the rain was blowing sideways! The neighbors just had a tree taken down, and I was really worried about the limbs becoming projectiles.

Kathy- Kyle doing OK? Sounds like he's got a doozy of a situation to handle. It'll be tough to fight off the urge to play white knight & "save" her from her misery. Unfortunately, it sounds like this won't be an isolated incident based on what you've shared.

Sheryl- Hope you're feeling better! Have fun in Florida!

Add us to the group of restaurant avoiders for Valentine's day. I'll probably grill up a couple of steaks & crack open a good bottle of red for DH & I. The kiddos will probably be happy with leftovers from DS's birthday meal request....pigs in a blanket & cheesecake! :rotfl:

We made out OK, thank God!

Regarding Kyle's "love saga", looks like everything happens for a reason. Abi called him last night and told him that her and her Mom are moving to Virginia. Seems the Mom has some family there and wants to try and make a fresh start. Imagine how heartbroken he would have been if they were still together. Now he can really focus on moving on.:goodvibes

Thanks goodness - looks like you have managed to dodge two bullets.

I can't believe this crazy weather.

I am so excited! I have to tell someone my good news. I have been choosen to do a Career Day speech on Parenting at my Alma Mater, Chapelle. I know it seems silly to get excited over this...but in a way it is almost validating to have what I do listed as a career. Over 100 girls signed up so I will be lectoring 3 seminars.

Not only is it a career, it's the hardest one there is!!:thumbsup2 Congrats!!!

MRSKreamer, that is fabulous!! I went to Dominican and never was there a day that listed motherhood as a career. It was "college, college, college," from day 1. I want my DD's to know that parenting is a wonderfully fulfilling career choice-Kudos to you!! I wish I had had a speech about that in HS, I may have never wasted time and money on failing my first few years of college b/c I felt I HAD to go. I think a college education is a wonderful thing but if being married and the ability to be a SAHM is the BEST job ever!

Thanks. I completely agree. There was only one other career I felt so great in besides this and that was theatre. My poor mom though. She was a bra-burning career minded girls of the late 70s. When I told her I wasn't going back to work for a long while, she freaked! LOL

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, Y'ALL!!!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I was just busting my bootie to get packed! Stomach is feeling better, but I'm still fighting the headache. I just have to load up the car this morning & we'll be off! We aren't taking off until after the morning rush. I'm up early just because as usual I have trouble sleeping the night before a trip.

Kathy, I'm glad things worked out this way for Kyle! Otherwise he would have really been heartbroken.

Mrs Kreamer, That is great! I'm really pleased to hear that a school like Chapelle (college-oriented) has realized the importance of parenting! Good luck with your seminars!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sheryl

p.s. My DC will be putting in wood floors & moldings in our bedroom while we are away! DH just worked that out today! Only downfall to that was I had to get the closet cleaned out today too.

Good Morning NOLA and

Although the payment is in cheesy smiles, sticky hugs, and crayon-drawings, you're not silly about being excited over Parenting considered as a career. Good luck - you'll do a great job!

Happy Valentine's Day!
