Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

hey ended up seeing Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs - it was HYSTERICAL!

His article about the NY press and intimidation yesterday was hysterical!

Ooooh an article in NOLA.com about NY press? I have to go find it! :lmao:

Lori - I did see the Living section on NOMA!!!!! Looks awesome, we need a plan!:thumbsup2

If you are referring to the Disney art thing at NOMA, I want to go see it!

DH and I did go to Gretna Fest. I saw Sheryl so we were able to hang out. She, by some MIRACLE, got me to try pheasant quail andouille gumbo. :scared1: :faint: :lmao: It was good. And now I know what gumbo IS! And I saw a second line and Mardi Gras Indians! I got me an EDUCATION at the Gretna Fest! :lmao::rotfl2:

It was crowded but we had a good time. If I had not found Sheryl we probably would not have stayed as long. She's been before and understands wth is going on! I had entered that other dimension of time and place this evening. :lmao:

Jamie - Welcome Home!

Oh.....and GEAUX TIGERS and GEAUX SAINTS!

:rotfl2: You're too funny girl!

Good morning NOLA.

I just read the NOMA article and I am hyped about it!!! Sounds like a get together to me.

Bethany glad you enjoyed the fest.

Go Saints!!!!!

That looks like a cute movie. I would go see it today with my daughter if she didn't have exams this coming week:)

Bethany, I was laughing out loud about "another dimension":lmao:

Hey y'all,
We went out to the fest kinda early & watched the game in the beergarden! That was a lot of fun! How bout them Tigers!! :cheer2::cool1:
Came out of there & Bethany found us.
I really did feel like I had taken Bethany & Edison into another dimension!! She'd get this look on her face & kept asking if this or that was "normal"! I did get her to eat a bowl of Prejean's Gumbo & I think she liked it!
I have to say that I'm totally bummed about the size of the Fest. I wouldn't be surprised to read that they more than doubled the attendance. It was Jazz Fest crowded. We ended up in the middle of the Main Stage field to see Chicago & people just kept coming & coming. So we're packed in with people, Chicago comes out, sounds great, then we start feeling rain drops. The field was already soft, so we had to get out of there before it rained, so Bob wouldn't get stuck. We still had fun hanging out with Bethany & Edison. I definitely overdid it & am paying for it today.

Kathy, I'm glad you didn't take my bad advice & go out there. You're a smarter woman than I!:thumbsup2 I hope the ankle starts feeling better!

I have to ask for prayers for Alexis again. :sad1: The IBS type symptons have gotten worse. Chris took her to the dr yesterday, they x-rayed her, didn't see anything. Dr. described it as hyperactive bowel & said to keep treating the pain, diarrhea/constipation with appropriate meds & give it more time. Chris had to explain that it's starting to cause problems at school & the dr wrote notes for that. Chris has herself totally distraught & in tears from reading on the net, that some people who've had appendectomy at an early age continue to suffer with IBS & develop other bowel diseases. I tried to calm her down & make her realize we need to give it more time. I do know how miserable IBS is & can't imagine our poor little one dealing with this for life. :sad1:

Cara, Happy Belated Birthday to Fletcher! I'm sorry it was a stressful one for you!

Lori, I hope Haley had fun at her early b-day celebration!

Sheryl - I saw the pic of the crowds Bethany posted on fb and it looked insane! I was afraid this would happen to our "little West Bank" fest.:sad2:

My heart just aches for poor Chris. I know it's easier said than done because I used to do it with Mom & Dad but the worst thing she can do is surf the net when it comes to medical stuff. I will pray for Alexis and all of you.:grouphug:

Prayers being said for Alexis.

Sheryl sounds like you enjoyed yourself...I don't like those kind of crowds.

Haley is very thankful for her Disney birthday wishes!

We had a full day of chili, hotdogs(which I usually do NOT eat) and cake galore!!

I am POOPED!

Lori

Bethany, If you didn't take the NO vs NY game seriously, you wouldn't be one of us, but that seals it! You are officially a New Orleans Lady!! :goodvibes:laughing:

Lori, You ate a hot dog??!!! ;) You can't talk about eating game or even Bambi if you ate a "regular" hot dog! Who knows what's in that????!!!:confused3

The crowds in the main stage & around it were just nuts! I won't go out next year for the big name groups. Y'all please remind me of this next year.;)

Did y'all see that block Drew threw?! What a leader he is!

Thanks all for the prayers & good wishes for our little girl!

Kathy- how's the ankle???

We just played Apples to Apples and that is a fun game!

Lori

I was SO GLAD to see Sheryl! :goodvibes

Me?!? Brave? :confused3

As a side note, I do eat hot dogs but the all beef ones. Either Hebrew National or the Angus ones; I think they are Ball Park brand. :confused3 I don't do the reduced fat or the regular hot dogs.

And I think once in school they had venison. I have no idea why. I've had buffalo before too, when we lived out in Colorado.

I'll eat buffalo, now!!

We don't eat hotdogs except for at birthdays that give us no other choice. I did not buy the hotdogs , my DB did. And they have to be all beef or turkey and definitely NOT the red ones!!!

Lori

On hot dogs= used to love them now I can hardly stand the thought of them. I wish I felt that way about more foods :).

We have a new addition to the family. HIs name is Reggie Bush. Rie got a Peke -a - Poo. She said because he's black and very handsome, he should have the same name as the handsome black Saints player. He is a ball of fluff! I bought another camera so I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Tim may or may not start the "grinding" season this week. The mill will let them know. It's rained so much that the muck could possibly mess up the machines. We'll see. I have to admit that I'd love another week of seeing my husband for more than 5 minutes a day.

Julie - Can't wait to see pics of Reggie!

On the hot dogs, I only eat the fat free turkey dogs.

I've got to put a call in to my Dr., ankle is not any better.:sad2:
