A bulletin to all you night owls out there...the Perseid meteor shower is tonight! :thumbsup2

The peak is expected to run from midnight to just before dawn.

Anyone planning on watching? It's still hot and sticky and nasty outside around here, but I'm going to attempt to venture out anyway...hopefully without getting carried away by mosquitos! :rotfl:

i feel like a dumby for asking this but can it be seen everywhere?

This is the first night that I'm actually looking forward to waking up at 3AM to walk my puppy :) I'm hoping the clouds are out of here by then :goodvibes

Hi Elmo9607,
Thanks for sharing! Even though it will be late and it is still hot/ humid outside I am going to try and stay up to watch. Thanks again. :thumbsup2

It's clear here, so my boys and I will be spreading out our sleeping bags on the lawn and watching from 12 to 1. I need to go to bed after that! We saw a few last night, but hoping for more tonight.

Hi Elmo9607,

You're welcome!! I've always tried watching in years past, but the sky has just been too hazy. This year is supposed to be especially good, so I can't wait to give it another shot popcorn::

We drove up to the beach on Lake Erie and my DH and son saw 2, not me. It is really hard to find places with little light here. We had to leave at 11 and I might go out later.

I have to share this one...my DS#1 used to get so excited about the meteors and the first year we were planning to stay out and watch he came running into the house and said...The meat eaters are coming!

I watched from 11:30 to 1:30 and saw 58 meteors here. I'm sure there were more, but the sky was once again kind of hazy and some of the meteors were pretty faint. Still, 58 in two hours is pretty good! :goodvibes

I saw one although I didn't know there was going to be a meteor shower lol. I have never seen anything like that before in my life so I was really really happy.:goodvibes I thought it was good luck.:thumbsup2

My dad took my daughter out to see them; we live in farmland, so all they really had to do was go to the end of the driveway and watch from the unused cornfield across the street. She saw her very first falling star last night... and her second, third and fourth! She was so excited! :lovestruc

I was up at 5 this morning to get ready for work. I walked out for just a couple of minutes and saw two. I would have stayed longer, but I had to get moving for work.

Well, we laid out last night and I only saw ONE, and my kids didn't see any. (one son and I did see quite a few the night before though) We were only our for 1/2 an hour until the coyote howling got close enough to totally freak us out and we grabbed our sleeping bags and ran for the door! :lmao: We were laying in the front yard because our fenced back yard has too many trees.

I only saw a couple last night, in like the 1/2 hr I was sitting there. But the night before I saw a ton of them, and couldn't figure out why there were so many shooting stars. It's not a sight I see many times in Florida. The everglades are just about the only spot for star gazing. Although i did manage to find the big dipper, for the first time ever in my life.
