I read somewhere that you can't have any metal on your bathing suits in Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach. Does anyone know if that is true?
I think that everyone in my family has metal rings, etc on their suits!!
:confused3

It's true. For the safety of everyone using the slides no metal is allowed on swimsuits. They could scratch the slides which could then scratch people as they come down. The slide would have to be closed so they could get the scratches out. Every morning before park opens the parks actually have to test every slide so CMs have to go down each slide looking for flaws that might hurt someone.

For my boys suit I couldn't find one that didn't have metal where the strings come out in front. Is that included? If so, do any WDW stores have swimsuits without metal that we could buy when we get there?

A regular boys' swim suit with the small metal where the string comes out is fine. :goodvibes

OK, thanks. I was stressing a little about it. I had visions of them getting to the water park and being told they couldn't ride anything. How horrible would that be?!?

I think they are more reffering to women's bathing suits that have faux belt buckles and things like that on them. those are quite dangerous I would imagine on the slides.

Is it just metal buckles that are a problem? My favourite tankini has a plastic buckle at the waist. Would that be OK?

I wouldn't slide on your belly. The buckle could get caught on the slide no matter if it's metal or plastic. I would be careful.

Thanks for the advice. I don't like rides where I have to lie down so will probably be OK.

I don't know about damaging the slide, but I just took several rides down our local water park's slide in a bathing suit that has a metal clasp in the back to close it. I ended up with a nasty friction burn in the exact location and shape as the clasp.

I would think the metal "clasps" could also be a problem on the inner tubes. Can you imagine riding crush 'n gusher & suddenly your tube went flat??! That would bring a whole new meaning to the word colonic. :)

I saw tons of these last Thursday at BB. Guess the rule is really a suggestion only. Most of the metal was on the front; most slides you are on your back or if one your stomach, you are on a mat.

Those little grommets where the strings come out are OK. Don't worry about them.

No it is a rule because just a small scratch in the slide could cut someone as you go over it. Like I mentioned before. One of the jobs that the lifeguards do in the morning is slide down every slide to make sure there is nothing that could scratch or cut anyone coming down the slides.

Like I mentioned, this rule was not enforced. I saw the rule posted all over the place. I'm not talking about one or two suits w/metal and all kinds of accessories getting by. I'm talking tons of them. If a rule isn't enforced, is it still a rule? I don't think so.

I guess the enforcers were off that day. LOL I have seen people turned back from slides and have heard lots of stories around our dinner table. You can wear them in the park, just not on the slides is the rule that they are supposed to be enforcing.

Not being a prude but personally I dont think your thong bathing suit is appropriate for a family friendly waterpark. I dont remember seeing thong bathing suits when we went but that didn't mean they were not therr

A lot of the so-called "metal" is really plastic with metallic paint. That would be OK at the water parks.
