Messing up song lyrics

I am always on Misheard lyrics websites because of this so called "chronic lyricosis" as a PP said. :rotfl:

I had a friend in college who at one time thought that "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" actually said..."If you like Pink Enchiladas..." And then had to wonder why someone would sing about pink enchiladas...:lmao:

Okay--I'm dyin'--that is hysterical!!!!!:lmao:

I can't isolate any particluar lyrics I get wrong---

But I do recall really not understanding the words to most songs...so if a friend mentioned a song titled, I'd have no idea what they were talking about.

In 5th grade--the teacher asked for a name of a song and "Dress You Up" was suggested. I was as clueless as the teacher as to what song--the friends said Madonna sings it and I still had no clue.

So all day like I just sang "dress you up" over and over again....but still couldn't figure it out.

(and yes , I know what it is now)

I have been there and spent a whole afternoon laughing hysterically! It's a great pick me up for a down day....

My fave is from Abba's Dancing Queen...

"see that girl, watch her scream, kickin' the dancing queen..." The song is so "feel good" it needs a little anger!

Okay--that rings a bell...

I thought it was "You can dance...you can die-ie...having the time of your life"

It's "You can dance, you can jive" which makes me feel better than dying.

Duran Duran's "Hold Back the Rain"...

Correct: No time for worry cause we're on the roam again

I thought: No time for wearing clothes, we're on the road again...

Ok, here's another Double D misheard lyric for ya....

Wild Boys Remix
Actual: JT is singing "Stomp your Feet"
What most of us heard: "Comb your face"

AC/DC Dirty deeds

Real lyric-dirty deeds and they're done dirt cheap.

What I heard-dirty deeds and the thunder chief :rotfl2:

Ooh, that reminds me...You must know the story about how their song "Yo Bad Azizi" came about, right?

"Is There Something I Should Know?"
Actual: You're about as easy as a nuclear war
What most people heard: Yo bad azizi as a nuclear war

:teeth:

Great website on this subject:

kissthisguy.com (from "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix where "Excuse me while I kiss the sky" is often confused with "Excuse me while I kiss this guy" :rotfl:)

DH as a kid:

AC/DC
"Dirty deeds, dunder chief..." instead of "Dirty deeds, done dirt cheap..."

DSIL is FAMOUS for misquoting lyrics! Here's some of her doozies!

Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" turns into "Every road has its stone."
Three Dog Night's "Joy to the World" - "Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea" turns into "Joy to the fishes in the beep do see"
New Kids on the Block "Cover Girl" turns into "Gerber girl"

OK-mine is "Way down south" instead of Lay Down Sally. And my husband's...................drum roll please..........is "Smoke on the water, flying imbeciles" instead of "fire in the sky." I think I hurt myself the first time I heard him singing along to that.:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

The little girl I babysit for (she is 7) was singing Tic Tok by Keisha, and she was singing:

Don't stop, make it up DJ blow my sneakers up tonight, I'mma fly 'till we see the satellite.

The actual lyrics:
Don't stop, make it pop DJ, blow my speakers up tonight, I'mma fight 'til we see the sunlight.

Ahem. May I have your attention please?

I have the best one. :teeth:

My brother is so going to kill me if he EVER finds out I shared this and on the 'net too.

He was a real little kid (maybe fiveish) when Kenny Rogers' song "Lucille" was played to death...

He thought Kenny had it pretty bad in that song. Lucille left him... with...

wait for it.

four hundred children done crapped in the field... you picked a fine time to leave me Lucille! :rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::worship:

OMG!!!

I seriously just almost slid all the way to the floor from laughter. I am going to wake up in my sleep tonight from laughing at this. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2::worship:

We have a winner folks:thumbsup2

:lmao: OMG these are hilarious!

We still pick on my dad about one that he did many years ago; He really got into Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like a Lady"... except the words he used were "Dooo the Funky Lady!" :rotfl: Even he still says it like that, and when the song comes on, it's a family concert! :lovestruc

Creedence Clearwater Revival's Bad Moon on the Rise

To me it always sounded like "There's a bathroom on the right"

LOL - Just recently my son was singing with the radio to "who are you" and he was singing "New Orleans.....New new new new":rotfl: I had to show him the lyrics online to believe me that it was "Who are you?"

That is so funny. See. I guess I wasn't crazy after all. It does sound like New Orleans. I'm in good company.

I thought for years and years and years that Billy Joel had a song about a nice Italian girl named Brenda Rinetti.
NO clue it was Brenda and Eddie.:lmao:
Even though I know what it is now, it STILL sounds like Brenda Rinetti and I still sing it that way.

My son was singing Bon Jovi the other day:

Woooooaaaahh living on a prairie..

I had vision of Mary and Half Pint rollicking along to Bon Jovi in their covered wagon..
