Message from the Ambulance Service
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people
attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.
Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact
person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency)
Campaign. The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of
contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the
majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a
contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under
the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a
paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there
were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number
to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a
nationally recognised name for this> purpose. In an emergency situation,
Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly
contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as
'ICE'. Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards'> before
everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a
loved one's mind at rest
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

DH is in the ambulance service and has an ICE contact in his phone.

Some people on these boards have DIS ICE buddies too.

I have done this for about 2 years now. I have ICE Home, ICE Work and ICE Mobile. It took a bit of getting use to, but I think it is worth it.

I used to have this stored in my old phone but for some reason never transferred it to my new phone last year. :confused3

Anyway thanks for the reminder Jackie - have just updated my phone & my DH's. :flower3:

Thanks Jackie,i have heard of it+never got around to doing it.So thanks for the reminder:thumbsup2 .x.

We've been doing this for about the last 18 months I thought more people knew about it! It's a great way for them or a member of the public to find your contact details if needed.

will do this on my phone, thanks for the info

DH and I have these for each other, for some reason on his phone (he has 2 contacts for my mobile) I come up as ICE :) rather than my name!

Didn't think of having more than one though so will do taht. Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

Hi all,

I've had this on my phone for a while now, DD told me about it. I have three ICE numbers stored which all show on my phone screen at the same time -
1. ICE emergency contact name/number
2. ICE my name and DOB - 14*06*1969 instead of phone number
3. ICE O-NEG blood group + docs phone number
The last one is because I have a rare blood group, O negative, that can be used for anyone, but I can only receive O NEG.

I think this should be more widely publicised, even put in mobiles for you to complete as standard.

Lynn
